8. WINCH/MACHINE DELIVERY The winch is supplied by the manufacturer as part of the mower and will be installed on the mower if ordered together with a new machine.

If the winch is ordered separately, it must be supplied and installed on the mower only by the manufacturer or an authorized service/dealer.

Operation manual - Winch HSN02

8 / 19 rev. 07-22-08-2016

9. PROTECTIVE AND SAFETY ELEMENTS OF THE WINCH

The winch is supplied in such a condition, which eliminates health and safety risks to the operator and to third persons as well as the risk of damage to their property. For this purpose, the hydraulic circuit is equipped with an electric valve, which closes the oil outlet from the winch and blocks its further use in emergency situations. Under standard circumstances this electric valve can be closed by putting the winch switch on the remote controller to the OFF position or, in emergency, by pressing the STOP button on the remote controller of the mower. Chapter 16 EMERGENCY SITUATIONS DURING WINCH OPERATION describes in detail correct procedures to be followed when the operator faces dangerous or emergency situations

Proper adjustment of the throttle valve is also important for the correct functioning of the winch. This valve is pre-set by the manufacturer and its setup may not be changed or adjusted.

The use of the right rope and snap hook are crucial for the reliable functioning of the winch.

The winch is equipped with a safety snap hook and a rope with guaranteed minimum strengths. These parts must not be replaced by parts with lower parameters.

10. WINCH INSTALLATION ON A MOWER The installation of the winch on the mower may only be performed by the manufacturer or an authorized service/dealer. Never attempt to mount or set-up the winch. Always have mounting and set-up performed by

an authorized service shop.

11. CONTROLLERS

The winch ON/OFF switch button is placed on the remote controller (15). This button activates the electromagnetic valve, which closes and opens the oil inlet into the hydraulic motor of the winch. The winch drum stops rotating after the winch is switched OFF. ON – winch is switched ON OFF – winch is switched OFF

The hydraulic oil feeding line is equipped with a throttle valve. This valve is pre-adjusted and secured. It reduces the oil flow inside of the hydraulic motor of the winch during its work and thus regulates the power output of the winch. It is possible to adjust the power output of the winch so that it meets the performance/tension force requirements of a particular terrain. Proper adjustment will prevent the slipping/sliding of the wheels while working on a slope.

The throttle valve may only be adjusted by an authorized service/dealer.

It is strictly prohibited to approach the mower if the blades of the mowing device are engaged or if the engine speed is above the minimum level.

9 / 19 rev. 07-22-08-2016

12. WORKING WITH THE WINCH The winch is a device, which extends and improves the mower application possibilities, but it does not allow the operator to use the mower on all slopes. The winch has a folding part, which guides the winding rope on the drum. This part is in the upper position for transport and must be folded down before anchoring. The upper position of the guiding part is secured by a latch (see the figure).

13. ANCHORING For the best function of the winch and optimum tension force of the rope it is necessary to choose a fixed point to which you can tie the end of the rope with the snap hook.

Choose a sufficiently firm anchoring point, which is able to carry the continuous load caused by the mower as well as possible dynamic effects such as a sudden slip or fall of the mower.

- Mount the end of the rope to the anchoring point approximately 300 mm above the ground. Never anchor the rope directly to the ground. - Conditions for choosing the anchoring point:

-- There must not be any obstacles, which could jam or damage the rope – such as trees, bushes etc. – in the operating area of the rope and the mower. -- The surface of the anchoring point must be smooth without sharp edges so as to preserve the rope with the snap hook in a firm position throughout the whole operation of the mower.

The operator is responsible for choosing a suitable anchoring point.

Operation manual - Winch HSN02

10 / 19 rev. 07-22-08-2016

14. ANCHORING PROCEDURE

1. Transport the mower to the area you want to mow and place it on a level ground under the slope you intend to mow, directly below the anchoring point.

2. Turn the wheels of the mower across the slope (along the contours) 3. Make sure that the blades of the mowing device are turned off and set the minimum (idle) engine

speed. 4. Switch ON the electric switch of the winch on the remote controller. 5. Slightly deflect the driving joystick on the remote controller in the direction in which the rope starts to

unwind from the drum. From the factory the winch is pre-set to unwind when the driving joystick is deflected in the BACKWARD direction (towards the operator). In case the rope winds up instead of unwinding, deflect the joystick in the opposite direction. Catch the end of the rope with the snap hook

When the drive joystick is only slightly deflected, the mower itself will not move and only the winch is driven. This allows you to wind or unwind the rope.

6. Mount the rope around the fixed anchoring point, release the screw lock on the snap hook, lock the

snap hook to the rope and secure it by properly by fastening the screw lock. 7. Deflect the drive joystick in order to wind in the loose rest of the rope. The rope on the winch drum

should be slightly tight. 8. Increase the engine speed from idling to operating revolutions. 9. Turn the wheels of the mower up the slope (FORWARD) and slightly deflect the driving joystick on

the remote controller forward i.e. in the direction when the mower starts driving up the slope. If the rotation of the wheels of the mower and the direction of the rope winding correspond (i.e. the rope is winding up when the mower is driving up the slope) you can start mowing (see figure 1). In case the winch rope is unwinding when the mower is driving up the slope it is necessary to stop driving and turn the wheels by 180 degrees. Then you can start mowing up the slope (see figure 1).

10. Make sure and constantly check that the rope is properly winded on the drum of the winch and that it is not loose or tangled. In this case it is prohibited to use the mower on slopes.

Unwinding the rope, procedure according to points 1.–5.

Procedure according to point 6.

Procedure according to points 7.–8.

15. CUTTING

When driving on a slope the operator of the machine must carefully watch and evaluate the movements of the mower and the characteristics of the terrain, especially the momentary adhesion of the wheels to the ground. Pay attention to climatic conditions. Do not rely on the anchoring of the mower on the rope. Climbing ability of the mower will rapidly change on dry, wet or moist grass. The soil characteristics and firmness will also play a significant role. Sideslip will be much bigger on newly built slopes then on hard ground. When working on a slope with a winch use only one method up and down a slope.

- Inspect the area before mowing. Get well orientated, evaluate the situation and practically test the possibilities of each particular terrain. It is absolutely essential that you are familiar with the terrain before you start mowing.

- Start cutting grass at the bottom of the slope and proceed to the top. This will usually allow you to start working on less steep slopes and evaluate the actual climbing ability and decide about the best working procedure. Be careful about dynamic effects during mowing. These can cause extreme tension of the rope and the anchoring devices. - If the mower is slipping do not attempt to stop it and do not approach the mower. Especially avoid entering the area below and above the mower. - When operating the machine always stand sideways from the mower, never directly above or under the mower. - Before you start working on a slope make sure that there are no persons present under the mower, above it or in the intended working area. Do not endanger third persons or their property by the movement of the mower. - Always stay in a safe distance from the area to which the mower may fall/slip or throw grass. The direction of the thrown grass may change according to the driving direction of the mower. - Working on a slope increases the demands on the hydraulic circuit and especially in hot summer weather the oil may overheat. In order to eliminate oil overhearing mow across the slope.

- When driving across a slope or up a slope the winch must always be WINDING the rope UP in order to preserve its stabilizing function. Otherwise the rope will become loose, it may tangle up in the drum and THE WINCH STOPS FUNCTIONING AS A STABILIZING DEVICE. - The rope may UNWIND only when the mower is driving down a slope.

Operation manual - Winch HSN02

12 / 19 rev. 07-22-08-2016

- Do not drive the mower into bushes or similar obstacles that you want to cut (especially when driving down a slope). These obstacles may stop the mower, cause the rope to unwind undesirably and consequently jam. The rope must always be tight.

- If the driving wheels lose contact with the ground, the winch will stop working as a stabilizing device!

- While working with the mower AVOID: - sudden sharp steering or braking. - driving too fast - unstable soil. - driving on uneven surfaces. - changing wheel adhesion (driving from areas exposed to sun to shade etc.) - driving on the grass that has already been cut.

Prohibited use

- Do not drive on the slope if the rope is loose or unwound – Danger: the mower may uncontrollably drive down a slope!

- Do not drive on slopes with engine speed lower than maximum. - Do not stop and leave the mower on a slope - Danger: the mower may uncontrollably drive down a

slope! - Do not enter the area under or directly above the mower. - Do not manipulate the anchoring of the mower if the rope is tight or the ground extremely slippery or

unstable. - Always leave at least 3 coils of wound rope on the winch drum. - Do not use human power for stabilization of the mower – holding / tensioning the rope. - It is prohibited to make any modifications or adjustments to the machine.

16. EMERGENCY SITUATIONS DURING WINCH OPERATION

21. MAINTENANCE OF THE HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT Maintenance of the hydraulic circuit should only by performed by a trained and authorized person. For maintenance call specialized service / dealer. Regular maintenance should focus on checking connection tightness and oil level.

Maintenance of the hydraulic circuit must be performed in a perfectly clear working area. Any dirt inside the hydraulic circuit may cause very serious damage or failure of the machine. Before replacement clean every part thoroughly in a cleaning liquid.

The winch MUST NOT work without oil or with lack of oil, not even for a short time.

22. CHECKING AND REFILLING OIL Check regularly the oil level in the hydraulic tank. For measuring use the dipstick mounted in the tank cap. The oil level must be between the two limit marks on the dipstick. When working on extreme slopes, the cold oil level at normal ambient temperature must reach to the upper limit mark. The machine engine must be switched off when checking the oil. Always check cold oil.

Operation manual - Winch HSN02

15 / 19 rev. 07-22-08-2016

23. GEAR MAINTENANCE Drum drive chain

Check the chain tightness and wearing. If the wear is significant, the risk of the winch failure is increased. This may lead to hazardous situation while operating the mower. The chain can be tensioned by moving the hydraulic motor in its oval mounting holes.

Do not over tension the chain, this may reduce its service life and the service life of the bearings.

Lubricate the chain by spraying oil directly on the chain.

24. ROPE MAINTENANCE Inspect the rope before every shift, especially if you were previously working in hard conditions with

occurrence of obstacles, sharp objects etc. At least every 20 operating hours unwind the whole length of the rope and check very carefully the

external surface of the rope for damage.

In case of damage of the surface of the rope it is necessary to replace the rope. It is also possible to shorten the rope by the damaged part if its shorter length is still suitable for your further work.

Do not put the rope on hot items and do not expose it to heat.

Lubricating place

25. LINKING THE SNAP HOOK Tie the rope to the snap hook according to the diagram below:

Leave at least 8 cm of free rope at the end of the rope. Tighten the knot properly to avoid its loosening. Use a dry process to clean the rope up. Do not use water or chemical liquids. The rope must not come in contact with oil products and lubricants.

26. MOUTING THE ROPE ON THE WINCH DRUM On the winch drum there are two holes drilled opposite each other – one bigger and one smaller. Lead the loose end of the rope through the smaller hole and proceed to the bigger hole. Pull about 20 cm of the rope through the bigger hole and make a knot in the middle of the loose end. Pull the rope through the drum until the knot gets inside the drum. Wind the whole length of the rope on the drum by rotating it with the help of hydraulics. Push driving joystick FORWARD.

27. WINCH CLEANING Remove all dirt from the surface of the winch as well as from the hydraulic hoses after every shift.

Clean surface preserves better cooling of the hydraulic oil and simplifies the detection of faults. Sweep the dirt out with a brush. Do not use pressure water. In case of using water for cleaning, lubricate the chain immediately.

Do not use petrol or other oil products for cleaning.

30. AFTER SEASON MAINTENANCE

After end of a season or when not using the machine for longer than one month it is advisable to prepare

it for storage. Check the whole machine according to the maintenance schedule and the number of operating hours: - thoroughly clean the whole machine - replace worn or damaged parts - check all bolted connections and tighten all loose bolts and nuts - lubricate all moving parts – the whole machine (according to the maintenance schedule – see the

Operation Manual for Spider ILD01/ILD02)

Before performing any maintenance or other work on the winch you must switch off the mower engine and push the EMERGENCY STOP button.

31. DISASSEMBLY AND LIQUIDATION The winch is made predominantly of metal parts. This metal includes mainly iron (frame, drum, gear). Before disposal and scrapping it is recommended:

- to let the hydraulic oil flow out into special tanks and dispose it at specialized places for oil disposal. - to separate plastic, steel and rubber parts and hand them over for recycling. When disposing of the machine you must follow all rules and statutory regulations for waste disposal.

Warranty period of the whole Product/machine.

5. Claims stemming from the Warranty must be exercised with the Distributor / Dealer and also resolved by

them. A properly completed Warranty sheet must be presented and all of the inspections prescribed by the

Manufacturer must have been implemented. Incorrect information, additional extracts or overwriting on the

Warranty card lead to loss of the Warranty.

6. The Warranty applies to defects on the Product caused by defective raw materials, construction faults or

made workmanship. Defective parts on the Product will be replaced free of charge with a new part or

repaired. No entitlement to immediate delivery is created and the Manufacturer takes on no liability for

damage claimed for as a result of delayed delivery.

7. The Warranty does not relate to regular wear and tear (parts susceptible to regular wear and tear especially

include the following: blades, blade hubs with bearings spark plugs, air filters, belts, chains, tires, sealing,

hydraulic hoses, winch rope etc.)

8. The Warranty cannot be claimed against if the cause of the defect is:

a) The effects of external mechanical or chemical influences on the Product

b) Unreasonable handling of the Product, overloading it, neglect or incorrect operation

c) Repair of maintenance of the Product performed by a third party, which was not authorised to carry

out such work by the Distributor / Dealer or Manufacturer

d) Installation of such parts into the Product, the use of which is not approved by the Manufacturer

e) Implementation of changes to the Product, which were not approved by the Manufacturer

f) The fact that the Manufacturer’s regulations were not adhered to for handling the Product, its

maintenance and treatment (e.g. the instruction and maintenance manual), especially if the prescribed

Warranty inspections were not carried out

g) The fact that the user neglected declaration and removal of defects, which were apparent when they

were handed the Product over or which they did not immediately provide notification of and have

removed, when they arose later

9. In case of Products sold with a discount the Warranty does not extend to defect for which the discount was

granted.

10. All claims stemming from the Warranty are forfeit on expiry of the Warranty period. In the case of defects,

for which notification was made during the course of the Warranty period and which were not removed

during this period, this Warranty remains valid until the defect is removed. In this case, the Warranty is

terminated at the latest within 1 month of the last repair or after declaration by the Distributor / Dealer that

the defect was removed or that this does not concern a defect.

11. The Manufacturer is not liable for any economic loss or for any subsequent damage caused to persons or

their property, which was created as a result of failure of the Product.

12. The Warranty will only be valid subject to the condition that the Product is correctly registered at the

Manufacturer´s website within 14 days of the date the Product is delivered to the Customer.

13. The Warranty applies to the Product in the condition in which it leaves the production plant. The

Manufacturer is not liable for damage during transportation.

14. The Warranty period is extended by the period of the duration of the Warranty claim assessment. (The

Warranty claim assessment period begins on the day following the day the Product is accepted for

assessment and terminates on the day the Warranty is acknowledged or rejected, not on the day the

Customer collects the Product back). In case the Warranty claim is rejected, the Warranty period will not

be extended!

15. After inspecting relevant documents and the claimed product the Distributor / Dealer will:

a) acknowledge the Warranty claim as warrantable and settle the claim on spot; in case it is not possible

to settle the acknowledged claim on spot, they will accept the Product into Warranty procedure during

which the acknowledged claim will be settled without unnecessary delay. The Distributor / Dealer will

issue a written document certifying the acceptance of the Product from the Customer and both parties

will confirm it by their signatures; or

b) reject the Warranty claim as unwarrantable and together with the Customer they will agree on further

steps, or

c) accept the claimed Product for a professional assessment based on which the warranty claim will

either be acknowledged and consequently settled without unnecessary delay, or rejected. The

Distributor / Dealer will issue a written document certifying the acceptance of the Product from the

Customer and both parties will confirm it by their signatures. The Distributor / Dealer will inform the

Customer about the result of the assessment (acknowledgement or rejection of the Warranty claim) in

a previously agreed manner (in writing or by one of long-distance communication devices).
