Parishioner submissions always welcome. Dear Parish Family, In early August, the Episcopal Church celebrated the Feast of The Transfiguration, which is the story depicted in the altar window in church, probably since the original name of St. Hubert's was The Church of the Transfiguration. It is a Feast when we celebrate the reality that Jesus Christ transforms our living, not just on one day, but on each and every day through our lives! As we anticipate vacations from our normal rhythms, the end of summer and the upcoming school year, isn't it timely that we celebrate change in our own lives; change in the Church and shifts in our time and place? As many of you know, I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Europe, where I spent several days in Amsterdam. I made this journey in part to explore my family's Dutch roots. This is exciting to me, as I feel so out of touch with the immigrant experience. Jochemsz Schoonmaker came to New Amsterdam in 1635, so we've been here for a while! I found a culture in The Netherlands that has embraced tolerance of all sorts and conditions of people. This ideal is also shared by our church, as we promise in our baptismal covenant to, "respect the dignity of every human being." Tolerance, forbearance is certainly embraced in my New York roots as well. And, since my arrival in Cleveland in 1998, I have found Northeast Ohio also a place that is tolerant of difference and realistic about the challenges that face a complex society. For my family and for yours change is a constant. Transfiguration and transformation were the order of the day as my ancestor was tossed across a stormy North Atlantic, and change is equally apparent as I experienced turbulence flying over it some 376 years later. Our church life is equally blessed with change...permanence in Christ allows us to bend with the times and seasons of our lives with grace, context, and resiliency. St. Hubert's is at once a beacon of arrival and departure, a Holy place which marks our coming in and our going out in ministry and mission. May transformation bless each one of us richly! Peace (or vrede as Jochemz would have said!) Faithfully, Dan+

each Pillar carried us through the year

2010

Senior Warden Jenna Bing sees the importance in maintaining The Path

Forward strategic plan and is grateful for the framework already in place Working

within our Five Pillars she plans to begin the process of establishing new goals A
