The works at the above were carried out in five phases over thirty-one weeks in a live Nursing Home. The works involved carrying out internal alterations to the existing buildings to bring the existing home up to the National Minimum Care Home Standards.

To achieve this we employed an asbestos removal contractor to remove all the existing asbestos containing materials from the building. Where asbestos had been removed or additional demolition had taken place we carried out essential fire protection works to create fire resistant walls below and above ceilings using a mixture of fire curtains, intumescent insulation slabs, foam and mastic. In addition new fire rated internal doorsets were also installed to provide additional fire protection and safe escape route for residents in the event of a fire. Mechanical and Electrical alterations were also carried out in all areas to provide more efficient services, lighting, heating, and wash facilities. Each phase was finished with new suspended ceilings, decoration and flooring.

A new block wall was constructed to provide space for a larger shower area and walls were made good. All the walls were tiled from floor to ceiling using a glazed white 150 x 150mm tile complete with a single Victorian green contrast band. The floor was levelled using a self-levelling screed and a green Polysafe non-slip sheet vinyl with coved skirting was laid. New cubicles and semi recessed vanity units were installed to house new sanitaryware and we completed the job by fitting Mirrors, Toilet Roll Holders, Soap Dispensers and Paper Towel Dispensers.
