Indian pharmaceutical campus Zydus Cadila will be

approaching Cent ral Drugs Regulat or (DGCI) for

emergency approval of " ZyCoV-D" vaccine. An approval

would make it the f ir st DNA based vaccine.

Number of doses required for this vaccine is estimated

to be three . It was observed during the trials that the

vaccine showed prolonged immunity after t hree doses.

Being a needle free vaccine, the doses will be delivered

through Jet In ject ors, which allow vaccines to be injected

into people's skin under high pressure. Compressed gas

or springs are used for generating pressure. It eliminates

the transfer of infection exponentially.

ZyCoV-D is a DNA plasm id vaccine , which uses genetic

material to increase the immunity of body. Unlike Pf izer

or Moderna vaccines which use m RNA ( messenger RNA)

to increase the immunity , ZyCoV-D uses plasm id DNA

(a small DNA molecule present in human cells). This

plasm id DNA is converted into a viral protein when it

enters the human body . This prevents the virus from

growing and develops a strong immune system.

Whilst it 's production is on a fine pace, it is expected to

get emergency authorization in the

last week of June or early July.

The ICC Wor ld Test Cham pionship 2019-21 (WTC 2019-2021), a bid by the supreme cricketing body to revive Test Cricket, culminated with a nerve-wracking final with New Zealand emerging as the first world champions of the longest format of the game. The final commenced at the Ham pshire Bow l in Southampton, England.

The WTC consisted of 9 cricketing nations, who competed against each other during the two-year cycle, with India and New Zealand coming out as the table-toppers and were set to compete in the historic final. The tournament saw major setbacks due to the pandemic, but the ICC decided to continue it, and what a treat it was!

The first day was washed out. New Zealand won the toss on the second day and chose to bowl. The New Zealand pacers stood up to the challenge and bowled out India for 217. The Kiwis responded with 249, handing India a 32-run deficit.

For the first time in the history of test cricket, a reserve day was activated in order to compensate for the time loss caused by the weather. The match which was sitting on a balance suddenly weighed down towards New Zealand as they bowled out India cheaply, giving themselves an easy target to chase, which they did.

The young prodigy, Kyle Jam ieson was awarded the Man of the match for his 7 brilliant wickets in the final. Marnus Labuschagne and Ravichandran Ashw in emerged as the highest run getter and wicket tacker respectively..

Overall, the initiative turned out to be a huge success, and will definitely revive the craze for test cricket.

WAR OF WORDS: TWITTER VS GOVERNMENT OF INDIA...The standoff between the American micro blogging site and the Indian Government emerged as early as in February' 21, when the new IT Rules of 2021 were proposed to replace the former outdated IT Rules of 2011.

Act simply requires these tech giants to rest r ict a range of t opics on t heir services, com ply w it h governm ent t ake-down orders, ident ify t he aut hent icit y of inform at ion and also appoint st at uary of f icers. If the companies fail to comply within three months, tech firm employees can be held cr im inally l iable.

Suspecting the potential threat to freedom of expression, Twitter refused to comply with the rules even after receiving several notices by the Government, mainly because of the belief that the users will have less freedom of expression, less access to content that is unapproved by the govt. and the aut hor it y t o t ake-down cont ent is a probable way t o suppress t he voice of t he people.

Amid these heated debates, a series of measures by Twitter, may be as a sign of non-compliance with the new IT rules, has made people question several of Twitter?s policies.

In the second week of June, it was reported that the micro blogging site lost its Intermediary status in India, making it responsible for any questionable content posted on it.

Coming back to the present scenario, it seems that the future of Twitter in India is doubtful, if it continues to not comply with the rules. On the other hand, Twitter has got its biggest market in India, as well as the counterparts such as Koo, Toot er , Mit raSet u are no where to be seen in terms of such a popular base yet. I believe that the presence of social media sites ensures freedom of speech for all citizens in a country and continuity of a healthy democracy. A proper solution to this disagreement, can be the govt. giving an assurance of the proper and legitimate use of the take-down and censorship rules of the new IT law.

STATE OF UNCERTAINTY IN THE STATE OF ISRAEL...

We, as humans today, are hugely faced by several fears that we don?t wish facing, no matter what so ever. But what if the fear becomes inevitable? In such a situation, not only does the person suffer, but also there are a few changes, which come about. This is exactly what the Israel?s parliamentary democracy had been facing for the past two years. Israel had been confronting a serious political crisis, which came to a halt in the month of June, the cause of which was the lack of a majority governing coalition.

There were held four elect ions for the Israeli Knesset (Legislature) in a span of 2 years.

The issue started with both Blue and Whit e (alliance of IRP, Yesh At id and Telem ) and Likud not being able to secure a majority in April 2019 elections. In September too, none of them were able to prove the majority although Blue and Whit e secured more number of seats than Likud did. Subsequently due to some or the other lacunas and dissolutions, the third and the fourth elections too were enforced. Several arrangements were made, including making-breaking of coalitions ending with the Bennet?s Yam ina party signing a coalition with Lapid, the Labor par t y, Yisrael Beit einu , New Hope, Meret z, Unit ed Arab List and Blue and Whit e, which eventually resulted in the 36t h Israeli governm ent being sworn.

The government will initially be led by Naft ali Bennet t , with Yair Lapid serving as

t he Alt ernat e Pr im e Minist er in a power-sharing agreement, through which, he'll

takeover the post of Prime Minister after 27 August 2023. But the stability of the

government remains uncertain, taking in note the 1 Vot e lead t hat t he

Bennet t -Lapid coalit ion gained dur ing t he invest it ure vot ing host ed in t he

Knesset .

But as of now, the Bennett-Lapid combination has

successfully terminated the 12 year run of

Benjam in Net anyahu , sending Likud in the opposition.

The United States carried out airstrikes targeting Iranian-backed milit ias in Iraq and Syria which devoured their weapons storage facilit ies.According to Biden administration the attacks on weapons storage facilit ies were meant to avert surging violence by Kat a'ib Hezbollah and Kat a'ib Sayyid Al-Shuhada. According to the US Officials, this airstrike was a response to the an alarming series of sophisticated drone attacks from Iran-sponsored Shiite milit ias in Iraq. The decision to launch airstrikes against Iranian-backed milit ias in Iraq and Syria demonstrated how the administration plans to handle attacks on American troops and facilit ies in the region.

The strikes came on the of President Joe Biden, making it the second time he commanded strikes on Iranian milit ia since he took the office. Biden last ordered limited strikes in Syria in February, that time in response to rocket attacks in Iraq.

A MILLION DOLLAR MATHEMATICAL MAGIC....

US BOMBARDS THE MILITIA...

The Millennium Prize Problems are the seven unsolved problems in mathematics combined by

the Clay Mathemat ics Inst itute. A correct solut ion to any of the problems results in a US$1

million prize by the inst itute to the discoverer(s).

Proof for ?The Riemann Hypothesis?, a millennium problem in mathematics wait ing to be

proved for the last 161 years, has been developed by a physicist Kumar Easwaran working at

the Sreenidhi Inst itute of Science and Technology, Ghatkesar .

The genesis of the problem arose from the work of the great mathematician CF Gauss who

composed a formula used to approximately predict the number of prime numbers below any

given number. Georg Friedrich Riemann improved the formula by using ent irely original

methods involving the calculus of funct ions of a complex variable, according to the statement.

Dr Kumar Eswaran took off from the work of JE Lit t lewood and showed that the RH could be

resolved if the analyt ical behaviour of a certain specially chosen

funct ion of a complex variable can be determined.

(Proof yet to be confirmed by CMI)

IN THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT, EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME...

?Temporary madness, in war, is bravery?s sister? ? these are the very lines writ ten by David Diop in this year's Internat ional Man Booker Prize winning book 'At Night All Blood is Black'. This book was originally writ ten in French as ?Frère d'âme? (meaning Soul Brother). This book was first published in August 2018, but it recent ly came into news as the English

translat ion of this book by Anna Maschovakis won the prize. The story starts with 2 senegalese soldiers, Alfa and Mademba fight ing against Germans on French Soil. After Mademba gets hurt one night, he begs Alfa to mercy-kill him, which he morally refuses. Mademba dies a long and painful death. This spurs a sense of vengeance and guilt in Alfa, who ventures into the German Camps at night and kills German soldiers and brings back their severed arms, much to the adulat ion of his fellow French compatriots, and later to their horror. He is later admitted to a psychiatric hospital for PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder). The Author compares brilliant ly how both the mercy- killings, of his friend and that of enemy soldiers, feels and looks exact ly the same, with the moon as a witness.

The winner was announced by Lucy Hughes- Hallet t in a virtual celebrat ion from Coventary Cathedral.

19th Grand Slam singles t it le and making him the first male player to win the double career

Grand Slam in the Open Era. Barbora Krej?íková won the women's singles t it le over Anastasia

Pavlyuchenkova in the final, claiming her maiden Grand Slam singles t it le. This was the first

t ime in French Open history that both singles victors were from Slavic-speaking
