Bible Freedom, for example, focuses on the Lordship of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures and is the Baptist understanding of religious authority. Soul Freedom focuses on the primacy of the individual and reflects the Baptist approach to salvation, with implications for other areas as well. Church Freedom highlights the prominence of the believing community and the Baptist way of being and doing church. MISSION FOCUS“A New Day for CBF Global Missions”

The Great Commission has not changed. As followers of Jesus we are commanded to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Traditionally, full-time field personnel have been funded primarily by CBF’s Offering for Global Missions. At Orange Baptist we have a long-standing practice of supporting global missions twice yearly, in March and December. In recent years many CBF churches have scaled back or are focusing more on short-term missions. Additionally, increasing numbers of field personnel are required to raise a majority of their own support.

Consequently, CBF has renewed “its commitment to the long-term presence of field personnel around the world in a comprehensive plan for Global Missions” (pg. 12, April-May fellowship! magazine). The new plan creates sustainability and equitable funding for all field personnel. The new plan consists of: Offering for Global Missions for Presence, Partner-Support for Ministry (eg. Field personnel will raise funds to support their personal ministry such as mission projects), and Endowment for Innovation.

The new plan challenges CBF affiliated congregations to explore new approaches to mission support and to continue traditional Offerings for Global Missions. Semi-annual Offerings for Global Missions will continue at Orange Baptist. Orange Baptist is in the process of becoming an Encourager Church, one example of a new approach to mission support.

You are encouraged to read “CBF ‘doubles down’ on long-term commitment to field personnel presence in new Global Missions plan” in the April-May fellowship! magazine for additional information about these exciting changes.

Pray for this “new day” in CBF Global Missions. Give prayerfully and generously to the Offering for Global Missions.
