The affiliate gets money by selling a product he didn’t make, and the

publisher gets more sales and only pays by the sales generated.

Let me tell you about a shortcut to affiliate marketing which enables you

to make money. Some systems make it as easy for you as just send traffic

Choosing A Market (Niche)

The first thing you need to know is what you will promote. This, in

marketing language, is referred as “choosing your niche”. A niche is

simply a market or market segment where there’s a r e a l demand for a

product or service. If there’s a good demand on a market, there’s money to be made.

One important aspect when selecting an area of interest or niche is to

choose an area in which you are particularly knowledgeable and

comfortable with.

You don’t have to be an expert in the market to sell a product as an

affiliate. A little internet research and you often know more of that topic

than 95 percent of the other people online.


Don’t choose a niche simply because it’s your hobby! Yes, it’s

important that you are knowledgeable in the area of your products, but

much more important are the buyers. There must be people willing to

pay for products in the niche you choose.

Take a look at the size of the niche: Are there enough people to buy from

you? Are they passionate enough, to spend a lot of money? Which

products in that niche are already sold and bought?

You can also always choose a niche within the BIG FOUR. These are so

called “evergreen” niches. Niches so big, with so much demand that no

matter what the competition does, you can always sell products in those

niches.

But even those sub niches sometimes have their own sub niches, big

enough to promote products to.

If your favorite product or industry is in one of these industries, that’s

good. If your favorite niche is not in this list, it means the market can be

too small. However, it still can be profitable. Bigger niches offer higher

rewards, but higher competition. Smaller niches offer you fewer

opportunities but less competition as well.

With this in mind, the important thing is that you keep working in testing

different products and niches. This will show you which works best for

you.


Finding Affiliate Programs and Products

There are different ways to find affiliate programs and products you can

promote. You can use google or particular categories of websites.

Finding Affiliate Programs with Google

If you know which industry you would like to promote, you can use Google

to find products to promote or to discover some sub-niches. If you’re

interested in, e.g., the pet’s industry, you can Google: “pets affiliate” or

“pets affiliate program”. If you visit Google and look for “pets affiliate

programs”, you’ll get:

Google finds more than 3,000,000 results for the search term “pets affiliate

programs”. As you can see in this screen shot, by searching for this key

phrase, Google shows you several affiliate programs in the pet’s industry.


Some of these products are digital products while others are shipped

products.

As an affiliate, you can promote any type of product since you won’t need

to ship any product. Usually, digital products are easier to promote, but

some affiliate marketers make a good living by promoting products that

need to be shipped only.

Finding Affiliate Programs with Affiliate Networks

Affiliate networks are a great place to find good products to promote.

An affiliate network is simply a place where publishers submit their

products, and affiliates can easily join any affiliate program and promote

them.

One of the biggest advantages of using an affiliate network is that the

affiliate tracking is made by a third party (the affiliate network). So, when

you promote a product that’s listed in an affiliate network, it’s not the

publisher that will track and pay you your commissions. It’s the affiliate

network itself.

Besides this, by using a good affiliate network, you’ll be able to access

thousands of different products to promote. You’ll be able to search

products by type or by industry, and instantly see how much each product

pays you. Joining an affiliate network is free for affiliates, so it’s a good

idea to join some affiliate networks.


There are hundreds of affiliate networks. Some of the important ones are:

You can use any or all these affiliate networks to research products and

niches, and if you need more, you simply need to Google “affiliate

Let’s check Clickbank in more detail.

Clickbank is one of the most popular affiliate networks out there. With

a network of over 100,000 Affiliates and an index over 10,000 digital

products, you will definitely be amazed by how much money you may

make with this network.

With Clickbank, You don’t have to wait for acceptance from individual

merchants for you to start working. Just browse the marketplace, get and

post your link, and start making money. It’s that simple.

If you’re looking to promote products listed in Clickbank, you only need

to visit the Clickbank Market Place.

You can also look for a product directly on the left sidebar, by category

and sub-category or you can use the search function.


Let’s imagine you’re looking for pets’ products. You simply write “pets” in

the “Find Products” tab, and you’ll get this result:

The good thing about Clickbank is that it tells you how much you’ll

make per sale (in $ and % ) , and it also displays a metric called

gravity, which basically measures the number of affiliates that are making

money with the product.


The higher the gravity, the bigger the sales and the number of affiliates

that have been making money with the product. However, don’t rely simply on this metric because triple digit gravity also means a lot of

competition and that everyone is already selling the product.

Clickbank also allows you to sort your searches by the Average % per

sale or the Average $ per sale, among others. It is a great affiliate network

for digital products. Clickbank is one of the biggest affiliate networks so

you might consider joining them.

Affiliate networks are beneficial for any affiliate marketer. You need to join

some networks, and see which ones offer the best products considering

what you want to promote. Keep testing different products across different

networks because that’s what allows you to learn and to improve your

profits in the long term.

Finding Affiliate Programs with Affiliate Directories

Another good place to find affiliate products is to visit Affiliate Directories.

These directories list several affiliate programs divided by industry.

By using affiliate networks, Google searches, and affiliate directories,


you can now build a list of products and industries you’re interested

in promoting. This list will be essential since it will allow you to research

the markets you’re interested in and check your competition.

Promoting Your Affiliate Products And Services

It’s time to learn how you can get customers who pay for the products

you promote. You basically have three different ways to promote affiliate

products and to make sales:

Ø Build a website where your visitors can buy some products you’re

promoting. This can be an online-shop or a blog or a review website

where you post articles.

Ø Build an Email List (The Money is in the List!!!) using an Opt-In

Page (Landing Page) and promote to your subscribers later by

sending emails.

Ø Promote the publisher (or vendors) website directly using your

tracking code (or link).

If you’re just starting in affiliate marketing, you probably don’t have much

money to spend on a website or in advertising. You’re trying to make

some money, but you don’t have much capital (or any capital at all). If

this is your case, the best thing for you is to promote your products directly

by promoting the publisher’s website.

To do so, you simply need to join the affiliate program and get some

visitors to the publisher’s website. Once they make a purchase, you get

your commission.


If you decide to promote directly without capturing the emails of your

prospects, you must be aware that you are losing money. After you get

the email leads, you can promote to them over and over again, and they

can buy from you for years.


Setting Up Your Website

Sooner or later you’ll need to have your own website. Probably you’ll

have several websites at once promoting different industries and

products. It’s ok to start promoting the publisher’s website directly, but

once you have some money, it’s time to build your own website.

All the great affiliate marketers have dozens or even hundreds of sites.

This shows you this is the way to go as soon as you can afford it.

Choosing Your Domain

These days, setting up a website for affiliate marketing is easy. Before you

set up your site, however, it's important to come up with a good domain

name which your site will be known by. When choosing a domain name for

an affiliate site, it's important to choose one which is both easy to

remember, pronounce, and spell.

Your domain name should also reflect the type of items which you are

promoting on the site. For example, if you are creating an affiliate site to

market online casinos, you could choose something like ‘toponlinecasinos’

or ‘bestonlinecasinogames’.

This not only makes it easy for your visitors to determine what the site is

about quickly, but it is also relevant, easy to remember, spell and

pronounce, and good for SEO.

There are many domain hoster, where you can buy your domain from. The


best, easiest and one of the cheapest domain provider I use and can

recommend is Namecheap.

They have all the functionality you need and want with your domain

(privacy option, free editable name server) a modern and easy to use

interface as well as low prices.

To get the best results from your site, it needs to be not only appealing to

visitors, but also easy to navigate and quick to load. You should use the

Content Management System (CMS) WordPress for your site. It is free,

effortless to install because most internet hosting services offer a software

guided automatic installation.

WordPress is also the most used CMS worldwide, so there are tons of

free themes and plugins you can use to enhance functionalities and

usability of your website.

If you need help setting up your WordPress Website, you want a

particular design for your site, or you need help with SEO you can

outsource the tasks.

The best site for hiring a freelancer to do these jobs for you is Fiverr. They

do the setup for your WordPress site, install themes and do custom design

jobs often for as less as FIVE! Dollars.

Getting the Webspace

When it comes to choosing a web hosting provider, there are many

different options to choose from, and each of these must be taken into

consideration. These include:

Ø Shared Hosting

Ø Cloud Hosting

Ø VPS Hosting

Ø Dedicated Hosting

No matter how appealing, free hosting should be avoided at all costs.

This is because even though it will not cost you, the actual cost of hosting

your website is often subsidized with advertisements, which could interfere

with the advertisements that you post on behalf of affiliate programs.

Websites hosted with free hosting providers also tend to be slow to load


along with some other potential issues which could cause problems for

your business.

Shared hosting is usually quite affordable, and is a popular choice for

affiliate marketers. With shared hosting, your website will share a server

with others. However, bear in mind that if you choose this option, there is

always the danger of your site being slow, or even unreachable, during

peak times.

On the other hand, opting for cloud hosting, which often costs around the

same as shared hosting, is a better option as your site will be hosted on

some virtual servers, meaning that there is little chance of server overload.

VPS hosting, or virtual private server hosting, is a type of hosting which is

similar to both shared and dedicated hosting. It allows for more space than

standard hosting but is less costly than dedicated hosting, where your

website essentially has a server to itself. This type of hosting usually costs

more and is only ideal if you expect to expand significantly, therefore

needing extra server space, in the future.

Whichever type of hosting service you decide to go for, it’s important to

keep a few main factors in mind. This includes customer service – it's vital

to go for a hosting provider which provides excellent, round-the clock

customer service so that you know for sure that if anything goes wrong

with your website, you can get in touch and have it fixed straight away.

Over the years I have had my experiences with a lot of different hosting

providers, some cheap, some not so cheap. The only quality hosting


provider I can recommend for affiliates is A2hosting. Especially the

shared hosting and the cloud hosting plans I can recommend for your

affiliate websites. A2hosting has great uptimes, a quick customer service

(they even offer a free migration service with some plans) and fast servers.

Creating Content

Every post you make on your website should serve one of two purposes.

It should either promote engagement, or it should promote a product. Most

of your posts should be either informative or entertaining and to engage

your visitors in a discussion. This will keep them coming back regularly.

A certain number of posts, perhaps between 10% and 25%, can be posts that promote a product or service for which you earn money.

You can add affiliate links and other promotional links in your engagement

posts. In fact, you should. But the post itself should not focus on the product. Instead, the affiliate link should simply support the article in some

way.

A purely promotional post will go for the hard sell. The whole post will focus

on selling the product. There are several ways to do this. Below are a few

examples of ways to sell products on your website or blog.

Reviews If you’ve used the product, you can offer a review of it. Make sure to include

a few drawbacks instead of solely focusing on positive aspects of the

product. This will make your review more believable.


Benefits If you haven’t used the product enough to review it yourself, you can just

create an informative post about the benefits of using the product. Note

that this does not mean a list of features. Features are things like size,

shape, weight, how many pages a book has, what color something is, etc.

Benefits are the things the product does for you.

For example, a feature of a particular book might be that it is available in

digital format. The benefit of that feature to the customer would be that it

can be carried easily on an electronic device for reading anywhere and

that the client doesn't have to wait for shipping.

News If a product is a fresh release, newly updated, or has some other major

news attached to it, you can simply announce the product as a type of

news article.

These are just a few ideas you can use for promotional posts. The more

original your articles, the more likely they are to result in sales ultimately.

Getting Traffic

There are several ways to get traffic on your squeeze page, your website

or to your publisher’s website directly. Some of these strategies are free,

and others can be used even with small budgets.

The overall best Traffic Strategy is building your email list. With a certain

size of list full of responsive subscribers you can simply bring a traffic storm


to almost every affiliate product you want because you own the traffic.

Advertising can also be a good source of cheap and targeted traffic. You

simply need to avoid paying too much specially to advertise in a medium

that you’re not familiar with. Advertising is powerful but usually only

mastered by experienced marketers.

Building a Mailing List

Having an email list is the most effective strategy for affiliate marketers to

get traffic and to make money online (The money is in the list!!!). It is often

surprising how many affiliate marketers just don’t put as much effort into it

as they should or simply skip that step for convenience reasons.

A mailing list is the greatest asset for affiliate marketers because a mailing

list gives you direct and immediate access to subscribers. You can notify

them of product launches, jump-start traffic to a new website or blog within

seconds and send a swarm of buyers to any offer, anywhere and this just

with some clicks and all this completely free of costs, because this is traffic

you already own.

The first step in building a successful mailing list is to create your Lead

Magnet.

Creating the Lead Magnet

Lead Magnets are essential for building your mailing list because most

people aren’t going to give their email address to a complete stranger


without some sort of real reason to. Incentives are everything.

Up until a few years, the Lead Magnet could be a simple report of a few

pages, but today in 2017 a Lead Magnet should be an irresistible freebie that is of enough value that people would be willing to pay for it.

This doesn’t have to be a 100-page book, but it needs to have excellent

information in it, and it can’t be anything people can easily find elsewhere.

In fact, it should be exclusive to your opt-in / squeeze page.

What Lead Magnets to Create

There are a couple of different informational products that can use as lead

magnets:

Reports A report is essentially an eBook about a particular topic or problem (how-

to-guide). Reports are the most common used lead magnets and consist

nowadays usually of 15 up to 50 or even 80 pages.

Cheat Sheets Cheat sheets are pdfs or images, summarizing a process that the user can

follow to achieve specific benefits. They are pretty popular with users as

they take away the need to think. They are very short (one page or so) and

cut straight to an ultra-specific point.

Checklists Checklists convert the best out of all the lead magnets, probably because


they are so easily created and consumed. They condense everything that

the user needs to know into one, actionable list.

Templates Templates can be anything that provides an outline or some sort of starting

point, so all the user has to do is fill in the blanks. Especially popular are

templates of autoresponder emails, headlines and ads.

Resource Lists Resource Lists are one of the least actionable Lead Magnets, often nothing

more than a list of links. It’s pretty easy to compile though and can be of

immense benefits if it contains formerly to the user unknown resources

(secret tips).

Swipe Files Swipe files are a collection of usable content, e.g., email sequences, ready

to use in your autoresponder or a group of Facebook Adds you can use for

your promotions. They are pretty good lead magnets because the user can

simply copy them.

Videos Videos, especially video courses that demonstrate actionable knowledge

can also be very effective Lead Magnets.

What Makes a Good Lead Magnet

When you are compiling your lead magnet, there are certain criteria your

Lead Magnet should fulfill to be effective and capture the desired leads.


High value Your lead magnet should be both of high perceived value and of high

actual value. A professional design of your lead magnet is therefore almost

as important as the quality of the information it contains.

Very specific The benefit/gain for the user should be very specific. Don’t create a lead

magnet about something to general.

Solving a real problem

Your lead magnet should solve a real problem that your prospects have,

or give them something they really want, or it won’t be that successful.

Quick to digest The easier digestible your lead magnet is, the better. This is the reason

cheat sheets and checklists are so popular. Lengthy reports may make the

reader feel overwhelmed.

Instantly accessible Your lead magnet will work best if it is something that can be delivered

right away. People love and need instant gratification.

Positioning as an expert After consuming your lead magnet, the user should have to acknowledge

your expertise on this topic. This positioning is helping to turn leads into

customers in the long run.


Choosing A Mailing List Provider

To host and maintain your mailing list you need a professional third-party

trusted provider who will ensure that your emails are compliant with anti-

spam policies and that your list is always available to you.

Like it is with internet hosting services, you’ll really want to avoid the free mailing list providers because they often have very poor deliverability and

their tracking tools are poor or non-existent.

Additionally, the free providers place ads in your messages, which can take

attention away from your own ads.

The most popular mailing list/autoresponder providers right now in 2017 are

GetResponse and Aweber.

Both options provide excellent value for a beginner in affiliate marketing

as they allow you to start with a smaller cheaper plan and to upgrade as

your mailing list is growing (as are your commissions).

I am using both services, and they both are reliable and have a good

deliverability, but right now I recommend GetResponse. It is the better

option when it comes to advanced features like tagging and automation.

Especially the automation features will help you to make a lot of

additional commissions and the new user interface finally gives

GetResponse a fresh and modern look.


Setting up your Opt-In Page (Squeeze Page)

An Opt-In Page (Lead Capture Page) is a page designed to get visitors to

opt-in and fill in their names and/or email addresses. Unlike other websites,

Opt-In Pages focus specifically on capturing email leads and should make

no attempt to give visitors any additional option.

There are a couple of ways how you can get your squeeze page done. You

can pay someone to do it, e.g., find someone on Fiverr, you can do it

yourself or you can get access to some ready-to-use system.

If you are experienced in coding, you know the tools to use. If you are a

beginner, there are a couple of apps and websites that can help you create

your squeeze pages. Some offer a drag and drop page builder

(WYSIWYG) as well as a selection of high converting templates.

I use one WordPress Plugin and one App to get my Squeeze Pages and

Funnels done. Funnels consist of different pages besides the Squeeze

Page there are also Thank You Pages, which delivers the lead magnet and

other kind of pages like upsell offers (OTO).

For simple Squeeze Pages or Thank You Pages I use Instabuilder 2.0, a

WordPress Plugin with an easy to use a drag and drop page builder that

fully integrates with your WordPress Website. It also comes with a selection

of high converting ready to use templates for your squeeze pages to choose

from.


For more complex funnels I use ClickFunnels which is in my opinion right

now the best software and easiest way to create high converting funnels.

ClickFunnels also offer full API integration with several mailing list

providers and autoresponder hosts including Aweber and GetResponse

as well as cloning and sharing complete funnels and other advanced

features.

To create a high converting Opt-In Page, it is important that the page

contains certain elements, to engage and excite the visitors, so they are

willing to give you their email address (and names). Make sure you have

the following elements on your Squeeze Pages.

Headline The Headline is the most important element of squeeze pages as it’s only

function is to grab the attention of the reader very quickly and make him

read the whole page.

Introduction The paragraph at the beginning of the opt-in page with the single purpose

getting the reader to keep on reading. One small paragraph is usually

enough.

Benefits It is important to explain the benefits of your lead magnet to the visitor, so

he knows exactly why he should opt-in and enter his email address.

Usually, this is done in the form of crisp and clear bullet points.

Call to Action One important element – sometimes forgotten – is a specific call to action.

You have to explicitly tell the visitor of your squeeze page what you want

him to do, which is usually to opt-in and to enter his email address.

Opt-In Form Finally, there has to be a form where your visitors can fill in their name

and/or email addresses. As a rule of thumb, the more information you ask,

the fewer visitors are willing to opt-in. The best opt-in rates get squeeze

pages which only ask for one information, the email address.


Pay per Click (PPC) Advertising

What you really need is targeted traffic. Don’t spend money or time

on non-targeted traffic like pop up advertising or anything similar.

Pay Per Click allows you to display ads and pay only when someone

clicks in your ad. You can have your ads displayed directly in Google

search results (by using Google AdWords) or across multiple websites.

The most commonly used PPC networks are:

Ø Google AdWords

Ø Bing Search Advertising

Ø Facebook Ads

When you start with a PPC campaign, avoid high bids because if your

bid is too high, you end up by losing money with this strategy. Try to

target keywords that can bring some traffic but where the competition is

smaller.

Guest Posting

Finding good websites in your niche that accept guest posts is a good

strategy. Remember these websites already have a lot of targeted traffic.

So, a link there to your website may be a great traffic source, and you’ll

start to get known inside your industry.


Press Releases

Press releases are another free way to get visitors. While it’s more difficult

to write a press release than writing a guest post, it’s possible to get good

visitors by writing PR and submit them to free PR websites.

Video Marketing

Video Marketing is one of the most powerful traffic strategies, and it’s

or you use your affiliate link and place a link to the publisher’s website.

To make the video, you need to have a software. The most used software

in this industry is Camtasia Studio. This software is not cheap, but

it’s the most used software in the industry because it’s very powerful.

Fortunately, you can get a free trial that allows you to make some videos

and some money before you buy it.

When you have the video ready, submit it to the following video

Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarks are a simple way to get some links and visitors to your Website. It’s free, and while these visitors usually don’t convert

much, it gives you also some strength on the search engines, so it’s useful

if you have your own website. Here are some of the leading websites with

high PageRank, so they are especially suitable for social bookmarking

your website.

Reddit Use this social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion

website to place your article or comment. Reddit's very active and

opinionated registered community can then up vote or down vote your

post.

Pinterest To use Pinterest, you will need to add their extension to your browser.

Pinterest is the number one high PR social bookmarking sites 2017.

Scoop.it Scoop any web page with ease through this site. All that you will need to

do is to drag and drop the button on the bookmark toolbar.


Digg Digg has compared to the other site one of the highest page ranks. Listing

your website can considerably help your ranking in search engine results.

StumbleUpon You can list content according to their categories which can then be up

and down voted (Thumbs up and Thumbs down).

Pearltrees A website that let you share links as well as organize and store your photos

and files. Those can be further organized into collections and sub-

collections.

There are many more social bookmark websites, but these are my

favorite ones because they usually send some visitors and some link

love (help on the search engines rankings).


Search engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO are the techniques

that you employ to get good organic search results.

When a user looks for ‘ marketing’ in Google, he sees organic search

results, and some PPC ads as well. As you can see, the ads are on the

right side of the screen while the organic search results are on a more

sizable position. These Organic Search Results have more click-through rates (means more people click on them) and they are free. You don’t pay when a person clicks in your organic search results.


It’s much better to have good organic search results than good PPC

campaigns because you get more traffic and it comes for free.

The problem is that is not easy to get the rankings you want on Google.

In fact, if you’re trying to get the top rankings for a competitive keyword,

you need to have a valuable website with tons of links pointing to it.

Since we can’t cover everything about SEO in this guide, the most

important thing you must know is that there are two types of SEO:

Ø On page optimization

Ø Off page optimization

On page optimization includes having a good title, having a good domain

name and choosing your keywords wisely. If you’re targeting, for

example, the keyword pet food, it will be great if you can have those

words on all of these sites.

The Off page optimization is essentially having links pointed to your

website. The more links you get, the better. But more important than the

quantity is the quality. If you get links from non-related websites, it

won’t help you. In fact, it can even harm your rankings on the search

engines.

Get good links from high-quality websites from your industry. Also, use

the keyword you’re targeting as the anchor text (anchor text means the

keyword where people click to reach your site).


10 Affiliate Marketing Tips

Track your stats really closely. This is what allows you to see how

many people you sent to a website and how many sales you got.

As a rule, I don’t promote anything that has less than 1% conversion rate. If I send 200 persons or more to a website and I have no sale, I

simply stop promoting the product or service. There are so many products

out there that it doesn’t make sense to lose time with bad conversion

rates.


Go after the big commissions. I usually don’t promote anything that

pays me less than 50% in commissions. If you only get 10 or 20%, it will

be difficult to make a lot of money especially if you spend money in

PPC or advertising. So, try to promote products that pay you at least

50% commission better 75% or even 100% on the front-end product.


Try different products and different industries. Even if you’re only

promoting one niche, it’s good to promote at least three different

products so that you can compare the revenues. And once one program

doesn’t seem to work for you, replace it with another one.



While affiliate networks are extremely useful, don’t ignore the ‘in

house’ affiliate programs. Some of these programs work as well as

the ones listed in affiliate networks and pay you on time. Again, the key

is to search, test and diversify.


You need to be patient. Affiliate revenue grows and builds up with

time. The more experience and resources you get, the more you make. If you stick with your plan and work in this market, it’s only a

matter of time until you reach your goals.


The higher the price of a product, the lower the conversion rate is. Also, if the product is too cheap, your commission in $ won’t be that

much. Try to promote products in the $40 - $150 range.


Seek programs that have growth potential with an expanding product offering. This will improve your revenue expansion. Your

customers will keep coming back to see what's new and exciting. Look

for vendors that are dynamic and continually expanding their product

offerings.



Make sure the affiliate program has a good tracking system.

Nowadays, it is reasonable to expect that your sales statistics will be

readily available to you. Always confirm the tracking method of any program. If possible, look for programs that offer real time tracking 24

hours, 7 days a week.


Look for programs that offer marketing support. Amazingly, many

affiliate programs have little or no marketing support. This is

counterintuitive considering it is in the merchant's interest to help the

affiliate succeed. Fortunately, some programs do offer marketing support.

Look for programs that give you the most tools to succeed.


Protecting your Commissions: There are some commissions tracking

problems that can occur at the merchant’s end. Besides this, some people

avoid clicking on affiliate links like this: www.samplewebsite.com/

affiliateid?22145892

Or even worse, they change the affiliate id at the end of the URL,

stealing you your commission.

Some people (much more than you can imagine) will tend to move their


mouse over an external link and then view the URL that is in the status

bar of their browser. When they notice an affiliate link, they simply visit the

website directly without using your link.

Because o f all of this, it’s crucial that you protect your links so that you

can protect your commissions. The easiest solution to this problem is to

use a tracker like ClickMagick which also allows you to use custom

domains.

Or you can also use a simple redirect software, e.g., the WordPress Plugin

Pretty Links does an excellent job, even with its basic free version.


Common Affiliate Mistakes

Affiliates who are struggling to make any money find it hard to believe

that other people could possibly earn as much as $10,000 or even

$100,000 a month in commissions. You should believe it. Some people

make thousands of dollars a day.

In case you’re struggling, here’s a list o f the most common mistakes and

how to avoid them:

Aren’t You Using A Newsletter Box Or Popup?

As I told you earlier, more than 95% of your visitors won’t buy from you on their first visit to your website. In case you have a newsletter box

or a popup where they can fill their name and email, you can then later

send them periodic emails to try to “get” them, showing your product’s

benefits, how it would improve their lives, and so on.

You can even offer a discount on your product from time to time just for

the ones that subscribed.

If your problem is that you just don’t know what to write, you don’t need

to have a weekly or a monthly newsletter. You just send them emails whenever you feel it’s worth it. Just don’t let too much time pass or

else once they receive an email from you, they won’t even know who

you are.


Do You Have Visitors But No Sales?

The first question you should be asking yourself is if you’re receiving

targeted traffic. Where are your visitors coming from? What keywords

do they look for to find you?

Having a good on page optimization is essential. You should have your

most targeted keyword in your title, description, and keywords.

After checking this out, visit your sales page. But visit it as if you were a

complete outsider, someone who never heard about the product(s) you’re

selling. Do you understand what it is? Do you have a well- documented

benefits list? Do you explain exactly the benefits people will have when

they buy your product?

This may be hard at first, but it’s a crucial step if you want to succeed in

affiliate marketing. Remember that’s the way you make money.

Are You Just Selling, Not Helping?

To convince someone to buy your product, you need to help the person.

This way, the odds of making a sell are in your favor. You can say, for

example, how and why your product helped you and others, or something

like that. Just use your imagination.

People will feel grateful and will end up by buying your product. If not,

you have a higher chance of them to join your newsletter or even come

back later to your website to make the purchase.


You just need to promote your product not as a salesman but as a

friend, someone who knows what they’ve been through, someone who

understands them.

If you write in a friendly tone, people will read more and don’t close the

browser window as fast as they would.

Are You Selling Only Other People’s Products?

As I said in a previous chapter, if you’re just starting in affiliate marketing,

this isn’t your problem. Although, if you’re already in this field for some

time now, it’s time to create your own website. This is the way to go if

you want to increase your earnings.

When you create your own product with your own design, you’re in

control. You decide the price, the commission you pay to your affiliates,

which affiliate network you use, and so on. Sure, this requires more

work, more time and more money, but you’re already making money.

So, just invest a part of what you earn. It’s a good deal, I assure you.
