QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS

I. PUPIL´S KNOWLEDGE OF RECYCLING AND RECYCLABLE MATERIALS

All of our students know what the benefits of reducing, reusing and recyling are.

Page 3: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

61% of students believe that the benefits of reducing, reusing and recycling are:• Protection of our environment.• Saving of the natural resources.• Saving of Energy.• Creation of an ecological conscience.

Page 4: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

Considering the majority number of affirmative answers, our students know where paper and plastic come from, but there's a small percentage of students who don't know where glass comes from.

Page 5: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

Students from our school believe that there are many things that can be recycled. Most of the things that can be recycled are made of paper, plastic, bottle caps and glass. 10% of students think batteries and clothes can be recycled, as well. There is a small percentage of students who consider the idea of recycling oil, metal and medicines.

Page 6: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

Our students think that the consequences of not reducing, reusing or recycling are environmental damage and pollution. A small percentage of students believe that global warming as well as health problems should be considered.

Page 7: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

74% of our students answered that our population, the Town Hall and the school must have an active role in the recycling process.

Page 8: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

Three quarters of the students in our school think that there are enough recycling containers in our area and that they are in a good condition. On the other hand, there are 24% of students who believe that the number of recycling containers is not enough.

II. PUPIL´S EVERYDAY BEHAVIOUR OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL

74% of the students declared they use biodegradable bags to transport the products bought in the supermarket. And 26% said they use all kinds of bags. We must emphasize that two years ago the use of biodegradable bags was implemented in our town and plastic bags are no longer provided for free.

Page 10: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

Approximately three quarters of the people surveyed responded that they do not check whether the product packaging is environmentally friendly or not.

Page 11: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

100% of students, when going on a picnic, throw the waste into the trash can, with the goal of helping the environment.

Page 12: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

When a paper is used only on one side, 72% of children use the other side too. 28% of students recycle it and 0% throws it away.

Page 13: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

50% of students stated they always recycle, 33% most of the time and 17% once in a while.

Page 14: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

85% of students think that we all should recycle to help the environment. 15% stated that we should recycle to save money.

Page 15: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

We have gathered from our students that they reduce water consumption mainly when they wash their hands, brush their teeth and take a shower instead of a bath. Also 20% of students fill dishwashers and washing machines before turning them on. Finally, 10% of student families pay special attention to fix leaking taps in order not to waste water.

Page 16: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

50% of pupils think that lights must be turned off when not needed in order to save energy. 30% of students consider important the use of low consumption bulbs in order to save energy because they spend four times less energy than regular bulbs. Finally 20% of students regulate the heating temperature in their homes to a more responsible level.

III. RECYCLING ACTIVITIES EXISTING IN THE SCHOOL

All students in our school know that we are participating in a recycling program and that they are ACTIVE PARTICIPATS. Moreover, many students also refer to the playground Cleaning Campaign, in which paper and plastic is separated and recycled, as well as collecting plastic bottle caps.

Page 18: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

Plastic and paper are the main materials that are recycled in our school, followed by batteries. (We believe this is so, due to the great emphasis we have placed on the high pollution that batteries produce).

Page 19: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

85% of students say they have participated in a recycling program, referring mostly to participation in the current Comenius Project. Remarkably, there are students who participate very actively in the project, although there is a very small percentage who play a less active role. So, we must insist on this less active group the importance of recycling to preserve the environment.

IV. EXPECTATIONS AND PROPOSALS

Most of our students are willing to participate in recycling paper, plastic, batteries and bottle caps. These recycling activities are being carried out in our school currently. Therefore, the proposal is to continue recycling as we have done so far. Besides this, a significant number of students produce and distribute promotional posters in order to continue recycling awareness. 16% of students said they would participate actively in games related to recycling if they would be organized in our school. 12% said it is important to reuse toys. And finally, 10% suggest collecting second hand clothes for charity purposes.

Page 21: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

87% of students in our school would be able to bring reusable and recyclable materials to school. Only 2% say no.

Page 22: Questionnaire Results-April 2014

94% of students in our school are determined to personally participate in recycling activities.

C O N C L U S I O NThe following is the conclusion of our second questionnaire results at the end of the 2013-14 school year.

Comparing the results of the first questionnaire and the last questionnaire we can conclude that our students have significantly improved their participation in recycling through our Comenius Project. Likewise, we can say that families who have joined our cause recycle regularly now. Finally, students who are actively participating in all the activities of our Comenius Project are the engine that drives other students awareness in order to recycle today for a better tomorrow in CEIP. “Miguel de Cervantes” in Consuegra.
