Questionnaire Response Analysis

The first question in the questionnaire asked the audience which gender they are. The responses signify that the majority of the audience will be women. This conforms to the audience profile as we expected our audience to be female dominated. This subverts to the hegemonic (Gramsci) view that women would prefer romantic films, as our opening sequence genre is thriller. This signifies that women are more likely to watch thriller films than men.

This question represents what the audience-preferred genre is. The responses signify that majority of the audience prefer to watch action, sci-fi, adventure and thriller films. This connotes that the target audience would favour to watch these genres. This signifies that our opening sequence will need to be of one of these genres in order to satisfy the audience. Therefore we would have to cater for the wants of our audience in order to have a successful opening sequence. This signifies that producer/directors are more than likely to give the audience want they want rather than what they want.

This represents that majority of the audience go to the cinema more than 5 times a year. This signifies that the audience enjoy watching movies and prefer to watch them in the cinema. This connotes that many people would go to the cinema to the watch the film that would be produced.

However the next question represents that audience are more likely to watch the film online than go to the cinema. This signifies that the film that we produce would have to be available online, otherwise we would lose out on a huge proportion of our target audience. Therefore this would widen our target audience, which would allow our opening sequence to have a higher opportunity of success.
