3. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

Page 2: Question Three

I originally decided that Immediate Media Company would be the institution which would be most appropriate in

selling magazine, but this was before I changed the genre of my magazine and so because my magazine is the genre of Pop Punk, there are two media institutions which would be able to distribute my magazine and these include IMC

and IPC Media.

Why Immediate Media Company would be appropriate

3. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

The genre of Pop Punk has not appeared in any other of IMC’s music magazines and so it would be completely new and so wouldn’t threaten their sales.

The target age range of 15-24 year olds is different from the intended ages for other music magazines which are produced by IMC and so would fit well into the company.

The two most famous music magazines created by the company are BBC magazines, where as my magazine isn’t, and so therefore would be different from the other magazines produced by the company.

My magazine could be available to be viewed online and so with the huge internet circulation this could be more successful.

DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

Why Immediate Media Company would be appropriate

IPC Media would be good as it is well known and successful and so would be able to sell my magazine efficiently.

The genre of pop punk is also different from any other magazine which is produced by IPC, however is similar to NME, and so could be a problem for the sales of my magazine or NME.

My magazine’s target age range is 15-24 and and this is a similar age range for NME and so could clash and may not be appropriate.

FINAL DECISION I have decided that I am going to use the Immediate Media company for my media institution which will distribute my magazine as I think this would be most appropriate for my product. I think this because:

• It would fit much better into the company and would not damage the sales of any of the other magazines.

• There is not a music magazine for this age range and so by my magazine being distributed by this company it may increase it’s customers.

• The Pop Punk genre would fit well into the pop and classical genres that are already used by music magazines in IMC and so would fit well into the collection as well as being much different from both of these.
