Throughout the process of constructing my final media product it was a much more complex process and therefore I had to ensure that I put a lot more effort into it to ensure that the final product was of a very high standard and had a true to life conventional look of existing thriller opening sequences. During the preliminary task I didn’t have the exposure to all the equipment and software and various other technologies as I did have in the process of developing my opening sequence and therefore didn’t allow me to get my preliminary task to reach these high aspirational standards. Looking back elements of sound , camera shots , camera movement , and camera angles , transitions , equipment and many other elements were very limited and those that were used were not explored accurately In depth.

Prezi:in the process of my preliminary task Prezi had to be used in the evaluation process as just like with my final media product I had to ensure that the evaluation was also multimedia. However I found Prezi extremely difficult to use and therefore ended up producing hardly any work as I could not navigate it correctly. However I had to then revisit this site as I had to produce a Prezi for an evaluation question about my final media product and therefore after spending a great deal of time on the site produced a clear and presentable evaluation question which was much more developed compared to the one produced in the preliminary task as I added numerous images , key information and also sound to allow it to be more engaging

Here displayed is a detailed Prezi presentation with images , diagrams and text whereas before I struggled to produce anything and gave up.

Soundcloud:During my preliminary task soundcloud was also used however it was also used in the process ofproducing my final media product. Looking back at my preliminary task I didn’t know how to use soundcloud accordingly and I had to make numerous different recordings every time I made a mistake andthis resulted in me having to do the recordings in several sections ending up with 6 recordings. Howeverduring the process of making my final product I learnt that I can now pause the recording so I can takebreaks which will prevent me from making numerous mistakes also if mistakes are made they couldeasily be taken away by simply being cut and removed. The duration of both the preliminary task andthe evaluation for my final media product varies in length this shows that I had a lot more things that Ihad learnt and therefore needed to explain showing my overall growth.

Final Cut pro:Although I already had knowledge before the preliminary task of how to use final cut pro due to GCSEmedia I only had basic and limited skills in which I incorporated in my preliminary task as it includedbasic transitions and no type of added sound to heighten and establish a mood of my film during thepreliminary task. Due to basic and limited knowledge it resulted in the outcome of my film being of a lowstandard and was terribly unengaging as it looked like not much effort had been applied to it. Howevernow in the production process of producing my final media product I have developed allot moreknowledge and now have included effects , adequate transitions and relevant sounds that fit with theoverall genre of my final media Product allowing it to be presented as a professional and conventional

thriller.

In my preliminary task while making my film there was no in depth planning

and research carried out before hand to support me with producing a

product that will attract a specific target audience and no type of awareness

on how to address and attract them in order for my film to appeal to its target

audience successfully. This time round in the production process of producing

my final media product I had achieved a number of measures to ensure that

my target audience was addressed and gained knowledge of how to appeal

to them and this was done my carrying out a focus group , a questionnaire a

screening of my product to audience and lastly secondary research about

audiences. All of this gave me direct profound information about who my

target audience would be in terms of gender , age , ethnicity and social class

backgrounds

Clearly shown in my preliminary task it was very limited in terms of camera shots , angles and movement. Majority of the shots seen were either basic medium shots with not much thought

process in how significant camera angles and shots could impact a scene and give it a deeper meaning for the audience who are viewing it. Due to the fact there was little variation of camera

shots it made my preliminary task appear as boring and had the potentially to be much more intriguing if particular camera shots were used for example at climax parts of the film extreme close

ups or even quick camera movements would additionally help with increasing the tension. In my final media product a range of camera shots were used including shots that I had no knowledge

about these included POV shots and handheld shots.

Basic medium shots and long shots were used throughout my preliminary task , displaying no variation of shots and angles.

I also simply used high and low angle shots which I developed

further on to present power and dominance within a particular

scene . All of these alternative shots in which I incorporated made

my final media product more engaging also there was consistently

different camera angles and shots used throughout the opening

sequence compared to my preliminary task which lacked in

differentiation of camera shots and angles. I also include shots that

we new to me such as two shots and over the shoulder shots.

Over the shoulder shot High angle shots Two shots

Due to these various shots provided an many other

in my finally media product it shows how I have

learnt to use more effective shots when

appropriate

Page 8: Question 7 final

Displayed in my preliminary task there was no type of effective or key transitions

used as I was not confident about how to apply transitions appropriately and

therefore this overall gave my preliminary task an ambiguous and disorganized

appearance. In my final media product quick cuts and dissolves were

accordingly added and this positively in these transitions helped to set a mood

with high tension and fear due to the fact the quick cuts inferred that something

dangerous was mostly likely to occur at some point by shocking audiences. Also

the fading in and out of tittles inferred that it was as if something was watching

and lurking and waiting to attack its prey all these factors helped to establish the

genre again showing my growth in ability of how to produce a media product

with adequate transitions and also how they can develop in to other meanings

about the action taking place.

Displayed are title screens fading in and out creating a

chilling mood as mentioned above.

Although I used various pieces of equipment in the preliminary task such as the

tripod , the dolly and of course the camcorder I was then later introduced to the

boom pole and microphone in the process of producing my final media

product. As I had no knowledge of how to use them as it was my first time I then

over the period of time filming my opening sequences I quickly become fully

comfortable with using them and realised that both the boom pole and the

microphone will allow my final product to be of a much higher standard and

quality due to the fact I had access to these pieces of equipment which help

pick up sound both clearly and efficiently. Looking back at my preliminary task

due to no access to these pieces of equipment the sound was not clear and

consistent and therefore shows the growth in my ability to produce a media

product of a better quality overall.
