Question 7

Looking back at the prelim task, what have you learnt in the progression to the final product At the beginning of the media course I had very minimal ICT skills. And at the moment I have gained a lot of different skills and have learned a lot of different techniques compared to what I used to do. I didn’t know how to use Photoshop or premier pro at all and now I have a decent understanding of both of the programmes. Also I have learnt how to use blogger and Prezi, even though I only know how to use them to a basic level I can use this to develop my skills further so that I can add to them to make them better. In my preliminary task I slowed most of the footage down because I thought it would look good. But looking back on it now it just looks ineffective and just overall bad. This prompted me to not to slow any speech elements of my product down because it distorted the speech. Also in my preliminary task I didn’t use any transitions or have any input from Photoshop in it. So I thought that I would add some in my final piece to show that I can do these things. Also at the beginning of the course I had no idea even how to use the cameras we were given. Now know how to set one up and film footage and take pictures on one of them. This has meant that I could film my final piece. Furthermore I have made sure that none of my actors swore in the final filming element because in my preliminary task one of them swore and I didn’t notice so I had to edit it out and there was just a part with no sound which sounded unnatural and strange. In the future I would like to learn how to use after effects so that I could add another dimension to my final product. It would allow me to make my media product more aesthetically pleasing and mean that I would have got a better grade overall. Also after effects looks like something fun to play about with so that’s another reason why I would like to learn how to use it. Overall from this whole project I have learnt that i need to have more imaginative ideas to make a media product because my final piece is quite similar to that of action films nowadays. Also I need to manage my time more effectively because my actors didn’t turn up multiple times when I wanted to film which meant I was left to the week of the deadline to film my whole piece. From this point I need to make sure I choose reliable actors so that I can meet the deadlines more effectively and have time to spare.

Looking back at the prelim task, what have you learnt in the progression to the final product

At the beginning of the media course I had very minimal ICT skills.
