1. Mariam Ibrahim Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? 2. After Effects I used an application called After Effects to create our title and production names for our opening. For our main title, we used a font and an effect which made the text look mysterious to the audience. The font also caught the eye of the audience, reflecting the mood of the opening. The title flashes twice which creates an atmosphere for the audience. I found this very difficult to use, but with the help of many YouTube tutorials I got the hang of it. I also learnt how to import the footage straight to iMovie. Compared to our rough cut the production names stood out more as we used After Effects to add an effect to get the audience attention. 3. Camera and tripod To shoot our opening, I used a Canon D70 DSLR camera which records onto an SD. This was easy for us to import the footage onto the iMac. I had no experience of using this camera, but throughout the process my skills were improved. I learnt the basics of how to use the camera and there was many settings within the camera that I developed while recording our opening. Using this camera, it allowed us to record our opening in high definition and good quality. The setting on the camera was already set to auto which was really beneficial for us as we had complete control over the lighting and exposure. When the lighting rapidly changed in different locations we could solve the problem quick and change the lighting. We used the focus mode many times which is used to allow us to have our shots in focus or not. The camera was portable and lightweight which made it easier for us to carry from one location to another. I used a tripod for most of my shots. I learnt how to set up a camera on a tripod, the legs of the tripod have to be placed on the floor and clipped down. I used a tripod to help me achieve steady camera shots and prevent shaking. 4. iMovie Me and my group used iMovie which helped us finish our final product. It was fairly simple to edit, cut and paste clips which was user-friendly. iMovie is a non-linear editing tool which allowed us to edit our clips in any order we wanted. This made it easier to respond to our audience. It automatically saves so that was useful and there was no problems in losing any work that was done. iMovie allowed us to add our soundtrack in which we got from an online site. We could add it to specific parts of the opening, as well as controlling the volume. There were other sound effects we included such as a heartbeat which created a dramatic effect when our protagonist was running. 5. Youtube We used a lot of Youtube at the start to help us with our research. This helped us to get ideas for our opening and we developed on it. We also used Youtube to upload our final cut and any other videos that was useful to the blog. This was easy to use and it was quick as well. This helped me when I was doing my product research as it gave me a range of different thriller movies to choose from. 6. Blogger We had to keep up to date with any activity we made and we used blogger where you could post any pictures, videos or text. This allowed us to share it with the group and teachers were could view it too. Blogger made it simple for us to organize our work. This helped us to see our progress and to see where we were working at and if we had to update any new ideas. We were able to upload Prezi presentations, images and graphs. 7. Mobile Phones We used our mobile phones to contact each other and could easily inform of any problems. This helped us to work well in a team as we could talk about the group activity.
