Q1) How does your media product use, develop, challenge, forms and

conventions of real media products?

With my STAs I managed to look at similar media products to find the conventions of real media products to see what I can use and challenge for our trailer we followed most conventions in our trailer so people could clearly see that it was a teen thriller. We used things such as a female protagonist but featuring a male protagonist too such as the charge over you trailer. I looked at and a high angle shot of the antagonist looking down on the protagonist to show she is weak and vulnerable.

I also looked at codes and conventions of a trailer to see what we could add or possibly omit to add more of an effect for example we showed the actors names to appeal to make it like a trailer when they show the actors name to make people want to watch the film because a certain actor is in it. Usually teen films have a voiceover from the protagonist so teens can relate to it but we decide not to use this to confuse our audience and make them unsure on what exactly was going on unlike in usual teen trailers we have a clear idea of what is going on.

Real Trailer Our Trailer

Our target audience is teens so we tried to tailor our trailer to look similar to a real trailer that has been released and aimed at teens but not exactly the same by changing certain things for example in real trailers the title and release date usually come right at the end of the trailer so we followed this having our title and release date at the end of the trailer.
