USE DEVELOP CHALLENGE

As you can see, I use a bold and stylish masthead which is a convention of a real media product ‘VIBE MUSIC MAGAZINE’.

By using a 3D effect on my main artist name, I believe this develops the standard text of a real media product. This effect allows it to pop out and be more attractive.

My artist does not wear the conventional ‘Hip-Hop’ attire in this front cover, I believe this challenges the forms and conventions of real media products, because as you can see with the real media product ‘VIBE Music Magazine’ the artist is wearing casual or ‘cool’ clothing.

USE DEVELOP CHALLENGE

Compared to the contents page of a real media product ‘VIBE Music Magazine’ I used a similar layout for the features as well as the same design.

By adding a colourful background I believe this adds more effect and allows the contents page to attract my target audience, compared to the plain white background of the real media product.

In my contents page I used both an image of my artist and another image linking to one of the stories that are mentioned in the features. I believe this challenges the conventions of real media products as it adds another dimension to the magazine, which allows the audience to view more than just the main artist.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSIS

My text on the double page spread links to a real media product as the format and design of the text, because of where it is located on the page as well as the contrasting colour scheme.

Using a greyscale, blurred background of bricks it emphasises the effect that the artist grew up in a urban setting, thus emphasises his personality. Whereas the real media product uses a very bland grey background which doesn’t really attract the target audience.
