In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Convention 1 suspense

Point Suspense The first convention used was suspense was used throughout the most of the opening sequence to engage the audiences attention making it easier to follow and interesting.

An example of this is the audio which is edgy and dangerous, and the picture dipping in to black and back this throws the audience into the situation and creates a sense of anxious behaviour for them.We also made sure that there were some pauses when the characters spoke this then leas the audience wanting more.

Overall adding suspense was easy at times but hard when it came to finding out exactly when and when we should and shouldn't add it to make it flow with the video.

Audience feedback, we were told that suspense can be seen throughout clearly and used at good important times. Though they also said that we could have been shortened at times.

Convention 2 Characters Point Characters The second convention we used throughout the whole opening sequence was the characters this then made the opening sequence more capturing.

An example of this is the way in which the characters act that makes the opening sequence flow. This was successful because we followed the social stereotypes which society have said young people are and do which are gangs, violence and crime.

Overall the opening sequence was good because the characters make it more captivating for the audience to watch and follow along with and also follow the stereotype of teenagers in hoods and gangs troubling people.

Convention 3 Themes Point Themes

The next convention that was used was themes this was used throughout the main themes were violence and crime. This was because the plot was based around how teenagers are interpreted.

An example of this is when we use the location a dark alley and guns which showed the theme violence this is based around the idea of teenager gangs which was shown and seen in the opening sequence.

Overall the opening sequence adding themes were good because it made the opening sequence more interesting.
