Q UEENSTOWN N EWS F EBRUARY 2020 CALVARY UMC AUCTION – The Calvary United Methodist Church will be holding their Silent and Live Auction at 7113 Maryland Ave. on February 8, 2020 at 6:30pm. Items include a beach weekend, golf for four, crabs and more plus door raffles to restaurants and businesses. Refreshments will be served at 6pm. Please come and enjoy a fun evening! BOY SCOUT PROJECT – Caden Quirion, a resident of Queenstown and member of Boy Scout Troop 464, took on a project in town in order to earn his “Citizenship in the Community” merit badge. As part of his project, Caden created a new flower bed near the E. Lane Cole Public Works Facility entrance. The project included the planting of several new plants and a tree, and mulching the flower bed. Caden did a great job, and if you’re in the vicinity of the entrance to the public works facility at Skipjack Cove Lane, stop by and take a look! It’s the same Amazon you know, only better because you’ll be helping your community too! 2020 U.S. CENSUS The 2020 US Census will take place on April 1, 2020. We encourage all Town residents to participate in the Census as doing so provides many benefits including helping local communities get needed government funding. More Census information is included on the back of this newsletter. DELINQUENT WATER PROCESS – The Town’s water disconnection policy is as follows: (1) Any account that has a past-due balance will receive a delinquent notice with their next water/sewer bill. The past-due amount must be paid by the then current due date. (2) Disconnection notices will be mailed to any account that remains past-due 8-10 days before the due date. (3) Door tag notices will be placed at properties that remain past-due 2-3 days before the disconnection date. (4) Any property that remains past-due after the due date will be disconnected. RECYCLE/TRASH REMINDER – A reminder that recycling and trash containers must be placed at the curb or roadways edge, be ready for collection before the collection trucks arrive, and must be in appropriate containers to insure they are collected on pickup days. Trash must not be in recycling containers or containers with trash company logos other than Republic. Recycling must be in the blue recycling containers only. If you are missed due to these reasons, you will need to wait until the following pickup date for collection.
