4 Research Office IRIS (Institutional Research Information System) IRIS is now live on the web. NUI Galway’s Institutional Research Information System (IRIS) now has a live feed on the Research Office website http://www.nuigalway.ie/our‐research/people/ and can be viewed externally which highlights your expertise, publications etc. IRIS is fully integrated with NUI Galway's Institutional Repository ARAN enabling users to make the full‐text of their publication freely available on the web. The benefits of IRIS on the web include:
• Showcase your research expertise • Feed your staff webpage • Allows access to publicly funded research (ARAN) • Increases citations (ARAN) • Enables compliance with funder open access mandates (ARAN) • Raises the university's profile and helps increase the university's ranking
To update your IRIS profile or include your full text please login to IRIS ‐ http://www.nuigalway.ie/research/vp_research/iris/index.html (using your standard Campus Account (UDS) username and password) and highlight the information you wish to be made public. Staff Changes Caroline Geoghegan is working mornings to cover Joanne Bane’s maternity leave. Natalie Walsh has joined the Research Office as Research Desk Manager from the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. This post is part of the newly established Research Support Services Unit whose remit is to create and improve upon systems and supports for the Research Community of NUI Galway.

5 Research Accounts Research Audit Findings Each quarter we will highlight a sample of these findings: Compliance with Procedures
• It is recommended to follow internal administrative procedures more strictly.
• Scholarship forms correctly received by the 7th of each month will be included for payment within that month.
• Post Proposal forms for existing employees should be emailed by the Budget Holder to Research Accounts by the 8th of the month (at the latest) to reach the HR Office by the deadline of the 15th of the month prior to renewal/change.
• Post Proposal forms for new employees should be emailed to Research Accounts by the
Budget Holder by the 8th of the month(at the latest) prior to start date to reach the HR Office by the deadline of the 15th of the month before the start date.
• If the new employee is relocating or requires a work authorisation and/or visa the PPF must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to start date.
