3 years ago we started part-

The other day our family visited the local prison outside the city

of Mekele. The photos above and to the right were taken as we

neared the prison site, since cameras and photography are not

permitted at the prison. We went with a gift, a Tigrinya gospel

of John, and a personal letter hand-written in the Tigrinya lan-

guage for the inmate whom we were going to visit. Prison has a

way putting one in a position to listen more attentively to the

word of the gospel. You’d be surprised, but there are no win-

dows separating inmates from loved ones. We were able to hug

the neck of the inmate, and he give a kiss on the cheek to our

son, Noah-sarang. Smiles were cemented on all our faces as we

enjoyed visiting, chatting, laughing sometimes, and slowing

down for emphatic moments of pressing the truth. When the

time-up bell rang, we were filled with a sense of gratitude to

God for being able to make the visit. It is very easy, even here,

with ministry and family duties urgently calling for our undivid-

ed attention, to miss the poignant moments of a powerful evan-

gelistic touch like this one. May the God of all grace shine His

gospel light into the heart of this and many other prisoners. DM

I purposely chose to post photos of last month’s visits to our poor

friends that included our son, Noah-Sarang. What does he do while

we visit the poor and share the gospel of Jesus Christ? He goes with

us, greeting the poor friends, smiling and playing, and enjoying

riding in the three-wheeled bajaj taxi, laden with sacks of wheat

flour. This past month, while he brightened up our visits and the

faces of those who were receiving flour, we shared about the signif-

icance of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The

sacrifice of Christ on the cross secured the forgiveness of sin &

eternal life. But the resurrection of Jesus from the dead assures

these eternal benefits to every one who believes indeed. Do you

want to be forgiven and live forever?? Only trust in Jesus!! DM

LAST CALL MINISTRIES

‘Fasika’ means Passover. The ancient

English denominating of the holy day as

‘Easter’ in the KJV was a purely cultural

linguistic earmark of ancient times. The

resurrection of Jesus Christ was always

celebrated just after Passover. So, Ethio-

pia, largely uninfluenced by western cul-

ture, celebrates Fasika and ‘Tensaey’—

the resurrection. We spent that Lord’s

Day in services teaching about the resur-

rection, and afterward we visited Mesi’s

family house where they where all

dressed up for the day. It was also Me-

si’s little sister’s birthday, which made it

extra special. We had the privilege of

sharing about the resurrection and other

spiritual topics with some of the family

members, praise God for that! DM
