NAVY LEAGUE CONVENTION
The Navy League National Convention in San Diego is
history. The by-laws change which was expected didn’t
materialize as it is going back for more study and fine
tuning and will reemerge at the fall Directors meeting near
Baltimore in November.
All Directors nominated at the Northwest Conference
were elected for the coming year including Northwest
Coastal Area President Carolyn Dankers and Northwest
Region President Dick Devlin. National Vice Presidents
elected from the Northwest are Dave Todd and Tom Jaffa.

Freedom Fest. The booth had good traffic with several
people stopping by for information on either Navy League
or the Sea Cadets. This information booth experience was
superior to Freedom Fair along Ruston Way two years ago.

Tacoma Council got a chance for a Seafair ship ride this
year and five people are riding the USS Essex on July 30th.
Another Seafair activity council members are attending is
the 3rd Fleet reception aboard USS Essex on August 2nd.
The Blue Angels performances as well as the hydro races
are on August 2nd-3rd.
Tacoma Council has also been invited to attend the
Marine Week’s Seattle Appreciation Night at Stan Sayres
Park Boathouse on August 2nd. Marine Week in Seattle is
scheduled for July 26th to August 3rd. A feature includes
