In cl. no. 10.3.5 & eq. 10.22 delta Fd is change of normal force in the flange.Please advise whether this force could be braking force.

No this is not the breaking force.THis is the addtionl horizonal force in the flange due to bending between two sections.It isdistributed between two sides of flangesViswanathan
