How it is different to other mediaAs the Kaldnes media moves within the filter,it causes the old dead bacteria on the outside tobe displaced. This makes space for new youngerheavier feeding bacteria to rapidly colonise.Within the wheel is a protected surface whichenables colonies of bacteria to naturally followtheir lifecycle, of maturing, dying and thenfuelling the latter stages of the nitrification cycle.Kaldnes has been designed to provide the bestpossible habitat for both young and maturebeneficial bacterial colonies.

Kaldnes Moving Bed process, which has beenscientifically tried and tested in fish farming andwaste water treatment for over 10 years, is nowavailable for fish keepers and is exclusivelydistributed worldwide by Evolution Aqua.

What is meant by 'self cleaning' ?Unlike foam, matting, or other forms of static filtrationmedia, the Kaldnes K1 media is designed to movefreely within your filter. The constant chaotic movementof the air from your pump, causes the media to selfclean and thus requires no maintenance. The Cetus sieve is a totally new, bow screenpre-filter, made using the latest rotational moldingtechnology. When fitted in front of your existing orproposed filter system it will dramatically reduce yourperiodic maintenance. As all fishkeepers know, it is necessary to removechlorine and other impurities from tap water whenintroducing it to a pond or aquarium. Failure to do thiscan result in fish health problems and it also adverselyaffects the growth of beneficial bacteria in all filters.The most common method of de-chlorination is toadd chemical treatments to break down the chlorine.
