OUR IMPACT:
Opportunities to build a career
• Working with K-12 on career readiness
• Upgrading skills for 100+ local employers
• Launched fast-track STEM job training
• Simplifying roadmap to bachelor’s degrees
• Statewide leader for raising grads’ income
7
OUR CHALLENGE:
To continue building a quality workforce, our students need quality colleges
As local companies expand and demand
for skilled workers grows, we need to improve
classrooms, labs and career training
facilities to provide students with skills
required for today’s and tomorrow’s jobs.
8
We need to upgrade classrooms and labs to prepare students for future success
• Repair or replace leaky roofs, old rusty plumbing, and
faulty electrical systems
• Upgrade classrooms, labs and career training facilities
for biology, physical sciences, information technology,
engineering, industrial technology, manufacturing,
automotive technology and logistics, emergency
medical services, anatomy and nursing
• Improve student safety and campus security systems
including security lighting, security cameras,
emergency communications systems, smoke
detectors, fire alarms, and sprinklers
• Improve student centers to provide job training, job
placement, counseling, and support services to
students
• Improve access for students with disabilities
• Upgrade libraries to accommodate modern
technology, digital resources, and improve
instructional support for students

IN FACT:
Community colleges in San Bernardino County have been overlooked – no Prop. 51 dollars
55% of California voters approved Prop. 51 in
2016 to fund new construction and modernization
of K-12 schools and community colleges.

A November 2018 bond measure will give local students quality workforce preparation by:
Bringing colleges up to basic health and safety standards
Repair or replace leaky roofs, old rusty plumbing, faulty electrical system, fire alarms, smoke detectors and security cameras. Improve building access for students with disabilities.
Fixing and updating older classrooms and job-training facilities
Address a long backlog of crucial repairs and upgrades to rebuild and modernize classroom technology, STEM labs, and student centers to provide job training and counseling.
OUR STUDENTS CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER:
Local funding solution to help repair, upgrade and improve our community colleges
11
Strict taxpayer accountability
Independent taxpayer’s oversight committee and regular audits would ensure funds are spent as promised, and not on college salaries or operating expenses
$470 million local funds could not be taken away by Sacramentoensuring that every penny raised would be spent to improve local colleges
Colleges could qualify for state matching funds if SBCCD has local funds to construct safe, secure and up-to-date facilities
OUR STUDENTS CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER:
Local funding solution to help repair, upgrade and improve our community colleges
