Q’s Beach Bug by Al Quattrocchi

    TYING INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: Cover entire shank with thread and tiea small clump of Orange wool at the point of the hook.Add a few strands of Copper Crystal Flash.

STEP 2: Tie in side grizzly hackles on each side and apply headcement. Cut two pieces of sili-legs approximately two inches inlength and fold them around your thread and onto the top of the shank. This will allow you to put them exactly where youwant them. Fold them back, tie in and cement.

STEP 3: Tie in your lead eyes. I usually put a bead of Zap-a-Gapon them to keep them from rolling around shank.

STEP 4: Invert hook in vise. Wrap your thread back to theorginal tie in point and wrap chenille around the shank to the back of the lead eyes. Bring the thread to the front of the eyes.

STEP 5: Measure a sparse amount of squirrel tail to just short of the length of the fly and tie in front of the eyes. I like to take afew wraps back behind the eyes so the squirrel lays down anddoesn’t stand up.

    STEP 6:

Trim the sili-legs so they don’t wrap around the shank and foul. Finish wraps with one coat of Hard Head or FiveMinute Epoxy.
