RE: REVISIONS TO DRAFT SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PLAN, AREA I THERMALTREATMENT FACILITY
Dear Ms . Jensen :
based upon the telephone conversation held December 20, 1991 between
Dinah Jasensky, Brian Sujata and yourself, handwritten comments by Mr .
Sujata, and telephone conversations with Dean Crippen on January 6, 1992,
we have revised the draft Sampling and Analysis Plan . Due to the number of
people involved in the project, we have prepared a list of revisions to
clarify the changes made over the past two weeks . This list is attached as
Table 1 .
We anticipated that the changes requested on January 6, 1992 would be
incorporated in time for us to express mail the report (8 copies) on
Thursday, January 9, 1992 for arrival at your office on Friday, January 10,
1992 .

revised due dates and other items concerning the above captioned documents .
These revised dates, etc ., were provided to us in our phone conversation of
November 27, 1991 .
It is my understanding that the due date for the Area I Burn Pit Plan
is now January 10, 1992 . In addition, Rocketdyne is to receive "policy
guidance" on this plan from the CA EPA some time the week of December 2 .
It is our understanding that the Post Closure Permit and/or Part B for
the impoundments is completely up in the air . Due date on whatever might
be required will be on the order of six months from now and not the current
due date of January 20, 1992 . In addition it is my understanding that the

RE : Submittal of Draft Report Entitled ,Sampling and Analysis Plan, Area I Thermal Treatment FacilitySanta Susana Field Laboratory , Rocketdyne Division ,Rockwell International Corporation, Ventura County , California
Dear Ms . Jensen :
Submitted herewith is the Draft Sampling and Analysis Plan for the
Rockwell Area I Thermal Treatment Facility as requested by Mr . Dean R .
Crippen of your staff. In addition a copy of Analytical Technologies,
Inc .'s "Quality Assurance Manual " is enclosed . This document is referenced
extensively in the quality assurance portion of this Sampling and Analysis
Plan . In reviewing the report, please note that the available background
information was limited . If additional information can be added, we may be
able to more effectively focus the sampling locations . We have not prepared
a Health and Safety Plan specific for the sampling activities . The initial
review of compounds and hazards at the area indicate that Level B personal
protective equipment will be necessary . We would like to obtain information
regarding previous activities at the site prior to writing the Health and
Safety Plan . Desired information regarding previous activities and
background information include the following: tLG;tcy &WI FC-
