Brian Dolly, Steve Nelson, Bob Wilson. Robyn Henderson and Helen Porter won sprint flags double. Others to win were Kelly McFadden (flags) Sean Sursok (sprint), David Shearsby (sprint) and Merliee Linegar (sprint) The men’s 200 years relay won and the woman’s 200 years relay finished second behind a 170 side. It was pleasing to note there were no dropped batons by any of our sides. Thanks to Alyson Mayer from the water area who helped out the runners to make up a third woman’s relay side and to Kathryn Shearsby and Greg Heard for being our cheer squad. SWIM, BOARD & SKI REPORT 10 males and 5 females from the Queenscliff Masters contingent ventured to Freshwater for the annual Masters carnival. The water events (excluding the boats) commenced at 9am in sunshine and a light westerly wind. Surf conditions were good with waves to three feet and an occasional larger set. There appeared more water competitors than in past years. Team selections were spot on with a 2nd in the 150 yrs Surf Teams (Danny White/Neil Schafer/Peter Nankervis); 1st in the 130 yrs Ski Relay (Deryck Pickering/Dave Slennett/Grant Henderson); 1st in the 150yrs Taplin (Pete Nankervis/Peter Dean/Dave Slennett); 1st in the 170 yrs Taplin (Danny White/Ed Kwanten/Grant Henderson); 1st in the 170 yrs Board Relay (Ian Poole/Peter Dean/Kev Harris). Both Dave Slennett and Grant Henderson scored points in the single ski and Danny White medalled in the Surf race. A notable finish was Deryck Pickering, 2nd in the single ski, consolidating on form found competing in this year's Coolangatta Gold. The girls were 3rd in the Taplin (Robyn Henderson/Liz Osborne/Maree

White); and 2nd in the Surf teams (Liz Osborne/Alison Mayer/Pam Walton). Maree was also 2nd in the single ski followed by Robyn Henderson 3rd. The carnival came to an abrupt end shortly after lunch following a severe thunderstorm. Rumour has it Queenscliff won the points score before the beach runners blitzed their competition, a testament to the time and effort put in by Dave Slennett building the ski team and Ed Kwanten with his canny team selection. Great to see Liz, Alyson and Pam competing thereby enabling success in the women's team events. A good day was had by all. ! CRONULLA SHORT COURSE REPORT The 15's travelled to Cronulla for the 3rd Annual Short Course Carnival last Saturday. The carnival provided an opportunity to contest some team events before the Xmas break and also allowed the swimmers to head to Homebush in the afternoon for their Metro North East Carnival. Due to conditions near the point the courses were reversed for the Ironman and Swim to enable the competitors to take advantage of the surf breaks on the return leg. Isaac led the Ironman from start to finish. A dominant wade across the bank going into the swim leg gave him a break on the field and he was never headed going into the board leg. In the combined surf swim/surf teams events Queensie dominated with Callum leading the way around the cans and back to the beach. Queensie scored 6 out of the top 8 positions to guarantee them the teams event. Heats and finals of the board were contested and all 7 Queensie boys made the finals. Joel and Isaac led the final from start to finish with Isaac narrowly pipping Joel at the posts as they ran up the beach. Queensie were given approval to enter 2 Cameron teams with Oli Boyce volunteering to run twice. Both teams pushed hard throughout the race however Cal, Hugo, Isaac and Liam gained a break on the pack and wrapped up the third team victory for the morning. Queensie dominated the Board Relay from start to finish and having won all 3 team events the boys all walked away with a new beach towel. Well done boys just a reminder Hugo holds the handstand record.

WAKE UP WITH QUEENSIE TEAM AND THE BONDI LIFE GUARDS Wednesday early morning saw a swim off between the Bondi Life Guards and Callum from the U15’s – all the boys were ready to swim

but unfortunately it had to be a one on one race with Callum being declared the winner over the line. Many Thanks to our water safety experts Isaac, Oli and Lara on boards and Jayson and Hannah in the IRB and to the members who turned up to cheer them on.

Make sure you watch WAKE UP on TEN from 6.30am until 8.30am Monday to Friday to stay in touch with what’s happening on Queensie beach. !
