PAIN MANAGEMENTCLINICAL TRIALS THE WORLD OVER,
HAVE ONE NAME - QPS
CURRENT CHALLENGESThe current gap between basic science research and the
development of new analgesics presents a serious challenge for
the future of pain medicine. In addition to technical constraints
like the inability of animal pain models to simulate
multidimensional clinical pain conditions, it also involves
alarmingly rising drug development costs and timelines. The
uncertainty of a site’s ability to meet study obligations further
compromises planning efforts while inconsistent recruitment
across sites leads to study delays.
QPS is an independent, global player in the field of
contract research, with facilities in the USA, the
Netherlands, Austria, India, China and Taiwan engaging
more than 900 qualified and experienced professionals. Our
unique management models, new technologies, and creative
study approaches can combat the increasing timelines and
costs of your clinical trials. Our unparalleled competence in
drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, toxicology,
bioanalysis, translational medicine, and early stage and phase
II – IV clinical research can reduce your time-to-market and
minimize your costs. QPS will plan your clinical study from start
to finish, putting the right team and protocol in place to make
certain your trial runs smoothly.
WHYCHOOSE
QPS?Knowledge and
Experience = Expertise
PAIN MANAGEMENT –A GLOBAL FOOTPRINT More than 1.5 billion people worldwide suffer from
chronic pain.
Approximately 3 - 4.5% of the global population suffers from neuropathic pain, with incidence rate increasing with age.
Worldwide, 37% of low back pain was attributed to occupation, with two-fold variation across regions.
Work-related low back pain was estimated to cause 818,000 disability-adjusted life years lost annually.
DEDICATED FRAMEWORK OF INTEGRATED PAIN RESEARCH SERVICES
Recently, QPS has extended its service portfolio by adding
more pain research facilities and expertise. For phase I and
IIa investigations of both nociceptive and neuropathic pain,
the Quantitative Sensory Testing Battery (QST) and the Third
Molar Extraction Model (M3) are available. In the QST
battery, cold/heat and mechanical/pressure thresholds are
measured in healthy volunteers to investigate pain/flare and
primary/secondary hyperalgesia. The M3 model is
performed in collaboration with the Department of Orofacial
Surgery of the University Medical Center Groningen in the
Netherlands, a large facility that provides easy subject
recruitment and high recruitment rates. Both pain and
anti‐inflammatory biomarkers can be measured on request.
Especially the combination of both pain models in the same
person who needs M3 surgery twice on different sites offers
the opportunity to investigate a nociceptive and
anti‐hyperalgesic effect simultaneously. QPS manages a
network of pain clinicians in both university and
non‐university hospitals through which we may either
mediate or conduct phase IIb and III pain studies. Via its
dedicated framework of integrated pain research services,
QPS offers a full range of outsourcing solutions from ‘first in
human’ to ‘first in patient’ (proof of concept) to late stage
pain studies.
EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN COMBINATION WITH STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES
Over the past two decades, QPS has performed thousands
of preclinical and clinical studies for local and international
pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, covering
numerous disease therapies. QPS provides one of the
largest capacities in bioanalysis for small molecules and
biologics, as well as specialized biomarker assay
capabilities. Our early stage clinical research facilities
comprise more than 400 phase I beds. Over the past 15
years, QPS phase I sites have collectively completed more
than a thousand clinical trials often including data
management, biostatistics, PK/PD evaluation and medical
writing as well.

SPEEDY PATIENT RECRUITMENT QPS ensures speedy patient recruitment through powerful
associations with efficient study sites across Europe, USA and
Asia, innovative patient recruitment strategies, and close links
with academia, SMOs, and specialist networks. We maintain a
large worldwide database of investigators to ensure high
enrollment rates of patients selected according to strict
eligibility criteria. A specialized QPS team works 24/7 to offer
solutions that increase patient enrollment rates.
EXPERIENCED INVESTIGATORS QPS works closely with our principal investigators to ensure
that your studies are recruited on time and with qualified
subjects. The strong relationships we forge with the
investigators who conduct your clinical trials promote the
performance of quality studies. We take pride in the fact that
the skills of the most experienced investigators are applied to
every clinical trial QPS conducts.
