The contents.

House style- The house style is the same as the cover of the magazine;

red, white and black with the font simple and bold. By keeping the

house style the same, it shows consistency which looks more

professional. The white, sans-serif front, contrasts with the black

background, making it stand out more. The page number are all red,

which stands out against the white background. However, on the

contents page, there is a ‘Women in music’ section, where the

background is grey. Grey is a simple yet sophisticated which connotes

that these women in the music industry are simple and sophisticated.

Main image- The main image is of Adele, who is mentioned in the “Women

in music”. By using Adele on the main image, this shows that this magazine

is aimed at either men or women in the general public. Adele is wearing

black clothing with very little make up on which connotes “women in

music” being very elegant, simple and sophisticated.

Lure- A lure is used on the contents which says “The worlds biggest and

best music guide”. This is used to entice the readers and make them want

to buy the magazine, and it is the “best”.

The headings and subheadings are all in capital letters to show the

importance and make it stand out compared to the rest of the copy.

The layout- The page is divided up into Rule of Thirds which is a common

convention to make the page look organised. The main image takes up

two columns, which suggests that the article is quite big and important.

The image is a focal point on the page. The contents is down the left hand

side of the page and along the bottom, which created a well-thought

through feel to the magazine. The sub-heading is split up into ‘Features,

Women in music, Every month and Review’. This categorises the articles

and coverlines, making it easier for the readers to find pages.
