Kororoit Creek Primary School has a zero tolerance for any form of child abuse 29 June 2018 Big Screen Fundraiser – Casual clothes day and sausage sizzle On behalf of our Student Representative Council I would like to say a big thank you to our community for your support and donations towards our Big Screen Fundraiser. Between the Sausage Sizzle and gold coin donations on the day, we raised $5201.75. This was a great success with students enjoying a sausage or a veggie burger as well as the opportunity to have a day out of school uniform. Hopefully our new AV system will arrive soon, ready to be installed early next term. Basket Ball Court…FINALLY!!! After all of the rain, the moisture test was complaint and LendLease have been able to continue with the rectification works to the basketball courts. Temporary line markings need to be painted onto the asphalt once it is laid and when we return from the holidays students will have access to the basketball courts as normal. This temporary surface will remain until the September holidays when the final blue surface will be laid once the weather is a little warmer. Student Led Conferences I would like to say a huge thank-you to our whole school community for the success of the Student Led Conferences. I have had overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers, they were excited to see their students share their learning with their parents. I have also received lots of positive feedback from parents about how impressed they were with their children and how they were able to speak about their achievements, challenges and future goals so articulately and confidently. What has been the most powerful has been listening to the feedback that has come from the students themselves. They were so proud of how they prepared, reflected and discussed their learning with their parents, whilst some acknowledged they were a little bit nervous, that certainly didn’t stop them from giving it a go and speaking about their learning. Thank-you to those that have provided feedback we will be looking at how we can improve our Student Led Conferences moving forward. Please remember that classroom doors are always open and you are always welcome to make a time with your child’s classroom teacher or the Assistant Principal to discuss any concerns you have around your child’s learning. 3:30 Bell From the beginning of Term 3 there will be a second bell that will be sounded at 3.30pm at the end of the school day. This bell is to signify to students who have not yet been collected by a parent or guardian that they need to make their way to the office. This will also signify to children that might be walking home that they need to make their way home. The second bell will also let our supervising teachers know to do a final scan of the yard to ensure all students have been collected safely, as the yard is not supervised beyond 3.30pm. SCHOOL FEES – Final instalment A reminder to families that the final instalment of book pack fees $116.25 per child is due Today (Friday 29 June) those who have set up their payment plan through Compass, this amount will automatically be deducted from your nominated bank account, please ensure funds are available to support the payment. PYP Attitudes Appreciation I am thankful! Commitment I will not give up! Confidence I know I can! Cooperation I work with others Creativity I can make it better! Curiosity I wonder! Parent Calls to the office Please be mindful of phone calls that you may make to the office during the day, the office are receiving many calls for trivial things such reminding children to put their lunch order in the lunch basket or asking the office staff to remind their child to put their jumper on. It is important that we are developing our students to be responsible and resilient learners and a school environment is a wonderful opportunity for them to develop these skills independently. With many messages needing to be passed on to the classrooms throughout the day can result in multiple disruptions to learning time. Thank-you for your understanding. Paver Fundraiser All of the pavers have been sent in and ordered YAY! Thank-you for your support and generosity, we raised a total of $4650.75 to go toward our amphitheater area. As the work slowly comes along, it will be fantastic to see history in the making at KCPS. You will have seen the temporary fencing has been extended at the front of the school so Phase 2 of the works is ready to begin over the holidays and into next term. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Term 2 is a busy one and the cold weather makes those early mornings that much harder however I would like to take this opportunity to thank-you for your ongoing support and partnership with the School. I wish all of our families a safe and restful holiday and we will see you ready for another great term.

Interschool Sports Soccer Grand Final On the 22nd June, the grade 6 interschool sports soccer team travelled to Cairnlea Park Primary School to compete in the Deer Park District soccer grand final. Having lost to Cairnlea during the 2nd round of competition we knew it was going to be a close game and that is exactly what it was. After the finish of regular time, the scores were 2 – 2 meaning that we had to go to extra time. The 2x5 minute extra-time halves were tense with both teams playing great soccer with the result looking like it could go either way, unfortunately neither team scored which then meant we had to decide the game on penalty shoot outs. The tension of the players, coaches and spectators was high as each team continued to score and save some great penalty shots. However, to our team’s credit, on the last kick of the District Grand Final we scored, giving us the victory and progressing through to the next stage of competition. All players in the team should be extremely happy with their effort and sportsmanship over the stages of the winter interschool sports round robin.

Interschool Sports Netball Grand Final On Friday the 22nd of June, Kororoit Creek’s mixed netball team competed in the Deer Park District Interschool Sport Finals against Deer Park West Primary. The students were slightly nervous with student and parent spectators watching on, nevertheless our team went into the game with confidence as they were on top of the ladder. With a positive attitude and excellent teamwork, KCPS was able to create quick passes and consistent goal scoring. Our team dominated with a result of 18 - 4 win. With a successful winter season, our team is now through to the Divisional competition. We are so excited to train hard, play with team spirit, and continue our winning streak onto the next level.
