smarter cities
CovJamThe worlds first City Jam in Coventry UK
Challenge
A streamlined and clear view of operations in order to improve customer service.
Solution
Using the ‘wisdom of crowds’ philosophy, IBM hosted a jam for over 800 city constituents.
IBM CoBRA (Corporate Brand Reputation Analysis) was then deployed to analyse the results.
Benefits
First-ever use of the IBM Jam approach in a UK city delivered unprecedented insight into the opinions of local stakeholders.
By connecting diverse groups of people and giving them a forum to collaborate and share information, the Jam has generated innovative ideas.
Jam format pulls in unstructured information from multiple sources and provides insight that will help drive Coventry’s strategic development plans over the coming 30 years.
“The IBM Jam brought out practical ideas. People know that we can’t change overnight, that we need to take baby steps to being a smarter city with low-cost, practical projects.” Martin ReevesChief Executive of Coventry City Council

Instructions for use – remove these charts before presenting
The presentation works best as a slide show, most pages have animated elements but they do not advance to the next slide until the presenter clicks to move on.
It is recommended you run the presentation in its current order through to at least slide 21 before adding any tailored slides, although 7 & 8 are interchangeable as are 10 & 11
Any additional slides should be placed before slide 23, your presentation should end with the black 8-bar logo.
The presentation is intended to be visually engaging for the audience while the presenter brings the text to life. To keep the style of the presentation intact try to avoid using very wordy slides.
The colour palette on the next slide provides a guide for backgrounds and central bar colours.
The central bar can also be made up of images if you are using a plain background. The text used throughout the presentation is Arial. There are some example charts you can adapt for your own content. Most slides are
based around splitting the screen into two halves or four quarters.
