Taster Courses
At the start of Spring Term we are running a series of one-off taster courses. Taster courses are particularly useful if you are in any way unsure about signing up and committing yourself to a course without knowing quite enough about its content and delivery style. Each of the tasters is linked to a particular course which runs at the same time the following week. We are able to offer these courses at the reduced price of £10.

Further Information for Students
1. School Facilities
There are three drawing and painting studios, a printmaking studio, a pottery studio, and a digital studio
The school has a fine art reference library, with over 500 books together with periodicals and magazines
Photocopying and internet access are available to students for course related work
Art materials for all the courses are on sale from the school shop
Refreshments are on sale at the school café 2. Advice and Guidance
Please ask the school secretary for advice on courses prior to enrolment. For more detailed guidance you can arrange an appointment with the curriculum team leader.
Once you have enrolled, you can ask your tutor for guidance on a range of issues, including further study within the school, career development, and progression to courses elsewhere.
The school management is keen to have feedback on your experience here, and to hear suggestions that you may have for improvements, or complaints about unsatisfactory service.
You will be provided with a health and safety induction during your first class. 3. Materials/Models Charges
Model fees are included in the price for all life drawing, life painting and portrait classes
Materials fees are included for etching, screenprinting and lithography courses – these cover all materials required except for paper, etching plate and reprographics, which will need to be purchased separately from the school shop. 4. Student Responsibilities
Your tutor will ask you to tidy up just before the end of class. Please ensure that the studio is left clean and tidy for the next class, as we do not have cleaners between classes.
Appropriate health & safety equipment is supplied for each class. Always make sure that you use it as directed by your tutor. There is no eating or drinking within the studios and we ask that all mobile phones be switched off during class.
Name and date your sketchbooks and every piece of work. You will be able to track your progress, and we will hopefully be able to reunite you with your work if it gets mislaid!
Student work can be stored briefly at the school while it is drying or if it is still being worked on. Work left at the school is at the students risk and the school cannot be held responsible if it is damaged in any way.
Students will be expected to treat staff and fellow students with respect, and the school will not tolerate racism, sexism or bad treatment because of age, class, sexual orientation, physical or mental health issues.

Refunds, Complaints and Cancellation Policy
Please be sure to read the details of the School’s policy for refunds in the event of the cancellation of a course by the school or the withdrawal from a course by a student before you enrol and pay for your course. Your enrolment on a course will be taken to show that you accept the conditions of this refund policy. 1. If the school cancels a course it will offer all students the alternative of a full refund or transfer to another course. Should the student opt for a refund they will need to supply the school with their debit or credit card details so that a refund can be arranged. There will be no charge for this service. 2. The following rules apply should a student wish to withdraw from a course
Requests for withdrawals and refunds must be received in writing, preferably by email to the school email address below.
If you withdraw from the course more than 5 days in advance of the course starting you will receive a 90% refund of your course fees.
If you withdraw from your course less than 5 days in advance of the course starting or once the course has started you will not be eligible for a refund of any kind, unless this is due to a course being proved to have been mis-sold by the School or to service failure. 3. The College is unable to make refunds for absence due to medical conditions, changes to work commitments, bereavements or other reasons for not being able to attend the course as a part or a whole. Complaints Should you request a refund based on a complaint about the quality of service provided by the School, your complaint will be dealt with from the time that your complaint is received by the Head of Putney School of Art and Design. Your complaint may be either in writing or by email to [email protected] The date of receipt of your claim will be the date from which your complaint is considered to have started.
