Canines are pointy teeth and help hold and tear food apart. Premolars are used for crushing food. Our back molars help grind food. The white part of the tooth you see is called the crown. The roots of teeth are below the gums. Teeth are covered in a hard substance called enamel that protects our teeth. Teeth are surrounded by gums. It is very important to brush and floss your teeth twice a day. This helps get rid of germs and plaque that cause cavities.

*When children lose a tooth they might put it under their pillow and get money from the tooth fairy!
