1. Toassemblethemowerhandlesyouwillrequireaflat-headscrewdriveranda10mmspanner(orshifter).Thesetoolsarenotincludedwiththisproduct.
2. First,selectthelowerhandleandthetwohandleuprights.Fastentogetherusingthefourscrewsandnutsasindicated.
3. Insertthetwohandleuprightsintotheupperhandle.
4. Fastenthehandleuprightsandupperhandletogetherusingtwoscrewsandnutsasshown.
5. Nowthehandleisfullyassembledandreadytobeattachedtothemowerhead.
Toattachthehandletothemowerhead,locatethetwometallugsfoundforwardofthecuttingbaradjustmentlocknuts.Insertoneofthelargeholesinthehandleoverthelug,thenrepeatthesameprocessontheotherside.Itmaybenecessarytosqueezethetwolowerhandlearmstogethertoallowroomforlocatingthesecondarmovertheremainingmetallug.

Changing the cutting height
Changingthecuttingheightisquick,easy,andrequiresnotools.Simplyloosenthelockingknobsoneachsideoftherearroller.Thisenablestherollerassemblytoslideupordowntoplacethecuttingbaratadifferentheightlevel.Makesuretheheightisthesameonbothsides.Re-tightenthelockingknobsuntiltherollerassemblyissecuredinposition.
Note:Itisessentialthattheheightisthesameonbothsidesofthehandlawnmower.
Adjusting the cutting bar to the blades
Thecuttingbarshouldbeasclosetothebladesaspossible,whenthebladesarerotatedmanuallytheyshouldmakeslightcontactmakingawhisperysound(likescissorsopeningandclosing),ensurethebardoesnotstopthebladesfromrotating.
Toraiseorlowerthebar,loosenortightentheadjustmentnuts(usinga10mmspanner,orshifter)ontheendsofthecuttingbar(locatedbehindthereelblades,abovetherolleraspictured).
Note:Asmall1/16ofaturnisamajoradjustment.
Toloosentheblades,ormovethemfurtherawayfromthecuttingbar,loosenthecuttingbaradjustmentnutsoneachsideequallybyturningthemanti-clockwise.
Totightentheblades,ormovethemcloseragainstthecuttingbar,tightenbothcuttingbaradjustmentnutsequallyturningthemclockwise.Ifthemowerisonlycuttingononeside,thecuttingbarmaybeoutofalignmentwiththebladereel.Therefore,tightenthesideofthemowerthatisnotcuttingtobringitbackintoalignment.
Ifthemowerishardtopushandthebladesbarelyturn,thecuttingbarmaybeovertightenedagainstthebladereel.
Ifthebladereelspinsfreelyanddoesn’tmakecontactagainstthecuttingbar,orthemowerisn’tcuttinggrasswell,thecuttingbarmaybetoolooseagainstthebladereel.

The metal guard protects your gardenThemetalguarddoesnotonlyprotectyourhandsandfeet,butalsothegarden.Thepushreelmowercanbepushedrightuptoflowersandshrubswithoutdamagingthem.Thisfeaturemeansthepushreelmowercancuttheedgesofthelawnwheregardenplantsexistminimisinganypotentialdamage.
Walk at a good, steady paceWithapushreelmower,therotationofthewheelsturnthebladereel.Themowerwilltendtobindupandskidifitismovingattooslowapace.Thefasterthewheelsaretravelling,thefasterthebladereelturns.Therefore,movingatacomfortablyquickwalkingpacewillachievethebestresults.
Overlapping rowsWhenmowingalawn,slightlyoverlaptherowthathasalreadybeenmowed.Thiswillmaketheforcerequiredtomovethemowereasierbecauselessgrassisbeingmowedatonetime.Overlappingrowswillalsoensureaneatcutbyremovinggrassthatmayhavebeenmissedonthepreviousrow.
Don’t let the grass get too tallPushreelmowersarehardertopushwhenthegrassgetstootall,thereforeitisrecommendedtomowonaweeklybasis.

• Keepallnuts,boltsandscrewstighttobesurethemowerisinasafeworkingcondition.
• Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.• Becarefulduringadjustmentsofthehandlawnmowertoprevent
entrapmentofthefingersbetweenmovingbladeandfixedpartsofthemachine.
4. SHARPENING THE BLADE
Beforetakingthetimeandefforttosharpentheblades,makesurethatitneedssharpening.Mostofallissuescanbesolvedbyensuringthebladesareproperlyadjusted(ADJUSTMENTSsection).1.Propupthepushreelmowersothatthebladereelcanberotated
byturningthewheels.2.Checkthebladesfornicksandburrs.Ifanydamageisfound,it
usuallycanberemovedbyholdingafileflatagainstthebladeandpushingawayfromtheedge.
3.Examinethecuttingbar.Itshouldjustmeetthebladesalongtheirentirelength.(Tomakesurethecuttingbarislocatedcorrectly,graspawheelandturnitforward;youshouldhearawhisperysoundasthebladespassthecuttingbar).
4.Ifthebarisoutofalignment,adjustusingtheadjustmentnutsontheendsofthebar(ADJUSTMENTSsection).
5.Usingoftpaintbrush,coverthebladeswithathin,evencoatofautomotivevalve-grindingcompound(availableatautomotivestores).
6.Graspawheelandturnitslowlybackwardsothegrindingcompoundissqueezedbetweenthebladesandthecuttingbar,therebysharpeningbothcuttingedgesastheypasseachother.Besurethateachbladetouchesthebarasthewheelisrotated.
7.Makeaboutadozenturns,applyingmoregrindingcompoundwhennecessary.
8. Examinethebladeedges.Iftheylooksharp,washoffallthevalvecompoundwithsoapywaterandrinsethoroughly.
9.Testforsharpness.Insertasheetofnewspaperbetweenthebladesandthecuttingbar,androtatethereelforward.Whenthebladescutthepaperaseasilyandascleanlyasasharppairofscissorswould,thetaskiscomplete.
Note: Aftereachuse,hosethemowercleanandwipeitdry.WipeallthemetalpartswithathinfilmofWD-40ormineraloil.
