Numeracy Challenge 14 A mother from the Isle of Man bought her children 200 hundred Christmas presents last year! This year she has bought even more! If she has bought 310 presents for her children this year, what is the percentage increase from last year? Well done to Harry Croas-dale from 7 Finch who managed to successfully answer Numeracy Chal-lenge 12. 31 of the 36 entries were correct, finding that the buses would leave for Blackpool zoo and Blackpool Tower at 10:15am. To enter the Weekly Numeracy Challenge, fill in an entry slip, and place into one of the Numeracy Challenge boxes, in Mr Binns’ Classroom or the SLC.

General Notices End of term: Please remember that we break up for the Christmas holidays at 12.25 p.m. on Thursday, 22nd December. There will be no food served in the dining room or Qube on that day. Charity Bake Sale: There will be a charity bake sale raising funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind at breaktime in the dining room on Thursday, 22nd December with a minimum donation of 50p. Fairtrade Tuck Stall: The Fairtrade Tuck stall will be open at the Fairtrade counter in the SLC at break on Thursday, 22nd December. Safety travelling to and from school: Now that it is dark at the start and end of the school day, the risks involved crossing the roads near the school increase. Remember that rain and light dazzle also make it harder for motorists to see you so please be responsible when crossing the road. There are particular concerns about pupils walking into the roads in groups and stopping the traffic - this is highly irresponsible. Don't assume that drivers will see you and stop - their windscreens may be misted up, their tyres may be worn and they may not be paying attention - you may be a split second away from tragedy. Don’t cross in front of or behind a bus where your vision is obscured - wait until it has pulled away from a stop before checking that it is safe to cross. Stay safe!

Mr. Grice

We enjoyed two very different events to mark our celebrations of Christmas this week. Our Carol Service on Tuesday was a prayerful and reflective occasion which gave us a valuable opportunity to step back from our busy lives to reflect on the true meaning of this joyous festival with skilfully performed music and readings . Our Christmas lunch was great fun and we enjoyed a delicious meal with very enjoyable entertainment. Do take an opportunity to thank everyone involved in preparing these events. I hope that you and your families enjoy a very happy Christmas and a peaceful 2017.
