Diaphragm process pumps
Leak free pumping of dangerous and difficult tohandle liquids.
Reciprocating pumps play an important
role wheneverfluids are pumpedto significantly
higher pressures.Pump manufacturers
are constantly forced to offer“new” equipment due to everchanging requirements of pres-sure, capacity parameters andmaterials of construction, plus the requirement to offer ecologically safe equipment.
URACA diaphragm pumps are animportant new contribution to the control and pressurization ofdangerous fluids. Not only doesthis type of pump offer the userreliability but also, it tends tohumanize the workplace. Leak free pumping equipment is beingincreasingly specified for utiliza-tion where dangerous, toxic, ornoxious liquids need be pressuri-zed. URACA diaphragm pumpsoffer the major advantages of relatively wear free plunger sealsplus leak free operation.
An integral control system elimi-nates pump overloading and indi-cates “early warning” diaphragmruptures.
URACA diaphragm pumps offerusers the following significantadvantages:■ safety■ operational economy■ reliability■ compactness■ driver flexibility.

URACA redundant diaphragm type heads withsafety features.
URACA diaphragm pumps are suitable for discharge pressures upto 350 bar (5075 psi) and liquidtemperatures ranging betweenminus 40°C and 150°C (minus40°F to 302°F).The PTFE diaphragm is suitable foruse with practically all liquids andeffectively seals the area in contact with the pumped liquid.Additionally, other materials of construction, suction and dischargevalve type, and stocking rate willbe selected to meet process requi-rements.
The URACA diaphragm pump headis characterized by two key functio-nal areas: ■ the liquid contact area is
contained between the blockcontaining the voluntary suction and discharge valvesand also the PTFE double membrane diaphragms.
■ the hydraulic section which isfitted with the diaphragm position control and pressurelimiting valve.
The oscillating plunger movementis transmitted to a double diaphragm via hydraulic fluid. The diaphragm position controlleris subject to a “feeler” plate andhydraulic fluid replacement valve.
“On line” time, and operationalsafety are improved through theutilization of a double diaphragmwith signal systems.
Optionally with pneumatic unloader valve
If a single diaphragm begins toleak, the rupture signal is opera-tional thus allowing sufficient timeto normally shut down the processand / or to bring a stand-by pumpinto operation.
For the pump’s hydraulic drive, pressure control and gas vent valve are also supplied as a stan-dard operational safe-guard.
Upon request the pump can beequipped with an additional pneumatic unloader valve.

The URACA fluid end: a functional and space savingdesign.
The “T” design fluid end configu-ration combines the advantages of utilizing the generally acceptedtriplex pump power end and yetconcurrently offers reduced spatialrequirements.
Also, the “T” configuration is userfriendly in that the high pressureliquid ends are readily observableand accessible for maintenance if and when required. Valves areexchanged easily whether thepump is supplied with ball or platevalves as required by operationalrequirements.
Comparison of spatial require-ments for the new “T” configura-tion and standard parallel headtype pump design.
Economic space utilization

Optimal performance in compact triplex design.
URACA diaphragm pumps cover aperformance range with power end frames to 250 kW-capacities to 850 l/min and pressures to
350 bar.

URACA –power end technology provenin daily operation around theworld.
URACA power ends demonstrate anexcellent performance record indaily operation around the world.URACA plunger pumps are installedfrom polar circles to the equatorand exhibit an enviable reliabilityand service performance recordregardless of climatic conditions.
Higher horsepower rated powerends are supplied with pressurelubrication and oil coolers as standard equipment. Smallerpumps of less than 25 kW aresplash lubricated.
Power end standardization.
The utilization of standard, proven URACA power ends is a major benefit to diaphragm pump users.

Drive options.
URACA diaphragm pumps may bedriven by any existing drive suita-ble for reciprocating type pumpingmachinery, specifically, motor andbelt drive, or motor gear combi-nation, hydraulic drives or internalcombustion engine. Electric motorsmay be located as shown for optimum space utilization.
Capacity control options are dependent upon pump power requirements and include variablespeed gear / motor combinations, adjustable frequency drives and hydraulic speed variators.
