“Pumpkins on the Move” Movement Poem Activity Directions : I created a black and white print out of the movement poem and then used it to make a large poster with a poster maker. I hang the poster up for the students to see the words as I read them. I have the students each sitting in a chair in a circle on the carpet area. I read the poem once all the way through first. Then, each student is given a pumpkin die-cut. I read the poem again, using a pumpkin die cut to act out the movement in the poem. I have the students follow along. This is great for 4 and 5 year old students in Pre-K or Kindergarten. You can print out the pumpkin to copy and create your own pumpkins, pumpkin die cuts, or small craft pumpkins for this activity. I have also included a color version of the poem as a PowerPoint file that you can use with a projector or SMARTBoard instead of making a poster. Enjoy! Leah Perry, Pre-K Columbus, Georgia

“Pumpkins on the Move” Movement Poem

Activity Directions: I created a black and white print out of the movement poem and then used it to make a large poster with a poster maker.

Enjoy!

“Pumpkins on the Move”

I have a pumpkin in front of me.I think I’ll put it on my knee!

Then I’ll hide it under my chair. Can you see it under there?

I’ll take it out so I can putThat pretty pumpkin on my foot! Then off my foot and in my hair.

My, it looks so nice up there!

Out to the side! Up in the air!Is that a pumpkin way up there?

Down to the ground my pumpkin lands.I’ll pull it up with my two hands.

Behind my back my pumpkin goes.Where can it be? Nobody knows! Here it is for all to see. It’s right back here in front of me!
