CTA and Pace are joining forces to bring another

Pulse Line to Chicagoland and Halsted is the next

stop! This fall, CTA and Pace initiated a study to

find ways to improve service along and around an

11-mile portion of South Halsted Street from the

79th Street Red Line Station to the Harvey

Transportation Center. Future Pace and CTA

service will overlap on portions of the Halsted

corridor. With Pace serving more than 11,000

daily riders on Halsted Street on the far south side

and south suburbs, the study will help the two

agencies plan for coordinated service as well as

determine the best way to improve transit service,

safety and reliability for these communities.

CTA and Pace Team Up for Halsted Line Study

Pace is now providing FASTER SERVICE on the Illinois Tollway between Rosemont and Elgin.

When traffic is heavy on the new I-90 SmartRoad, Pace can use the Flex Lanes

to bypass traffic and get you to your destination quickly. Learn more about this

smart technology at IllinoisTollway.com.

HALSTED STUDY GOALS:> Improve service coordination> Optimize bus stop spacing> Enhance boarding areas> Implement elements of Bus Rapid Transit

FUNDING ON THE WAY:

CTA received a federal grant through the Chicago Metropolitan Planning Agency’s

Unified Work Program (UWP) to do the South Halsted Corridor Enhanced Bus Feasibility

and Planning Study. Also, Pace received an Invest in Cook grant from Cook County

to complete the Halsted Line Environmental Analysis and

Advanced Design.

What’s in Store FOR THE PULSE DEMPSTER LINE?What do you want to see and where do you want to see it? Well, we asked these questions at the Pulse Dempster Line public open houses in September in Des Plaines and Evanston. But our research isn’t complete yet—we’re still looking for feedback! We want to tailor your transit experience to YOU, the rider. Visit PaceBus.com/Pulse to review the open house materials and submit your comments on the future of the Pulse Dempster Line.

The Pulse Dempster Line will follow the Milwaukee Line as Pace’s second rapid transit service. The Dempster Line is 15 miles in length and will operate along Dempster Street between the Davis Street CTA Station in Evanston and downtown Des Plaines, continuing to and from O’Hare International Airport via Lee St.—Mannheim Rd.

What’s Next? This fall, big things are happening with the Pulse Dempster Line. Pace is completing the collection of survey data and moving forward with the environmental analysis, including an evaluation of historic resources along the corridor. This information will help Pace develop a design that minimizes impacts on the built, natural and human environments. Pace has also begun planning for the design and construction of the Dempster Line. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning approved a $10 million construction grant for construction of the Dempster Line through the Federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program for 2018-2022.
