SAFETY CREW OF THE MONTH! This month’s Safety Spotlight goes to

Jackie Moller and Crew! John Kennedy

Director of Risk Management

This month’s safety spotlight is on Jackie Moller and his crew. Jackie knows the importance of safety and ensures he and his crew follow all polices and standards. He works hard towards a “safety first” job site. Jackie uses his talents to approach all safety issues with a determination to ensure the job will be

completed in a safe manner. It’s this mind-set and determina-tion that makes Jackie and his crew an easy pick for this

month. I extend a congratulations to him and his crew for making Action Inc. a safer place to work!

The production I was in was called "24601". It was a concert tribute to the

Broadway original Les Miserables'. The show ran 3.5 hours long and

was a full production. This was an experience I will never forget. I had

the lead role of Javert, the inspector who spends his entire life hunting

down the convict Val Jean, who broke his parole and disappeared.

I got the part after my wife basically dared me to go to the audition. At

the audition, I blew the lines I had rehearsed and they asked me to sing

happy birthday to the director instead. I left with the impression of

"Don't call us, we'll call you" and went home to tell my wife that I had

blown the audition. As it turns out, I suppose they liked what they heard

and I got the part. We spent 6 months rehearsing before performing in

front of 3 sold out shows. There were to be 3 more shows, but due to a

death, the other 3 were canceled.

I was scared, but I had fun. I would definitely do it again if given the

chance. I was totally out of my element, scared out of my wits, and re-

ceived rave reviews for my performance. Stepping out of the box is

something I don't normally do, but I took a chance and got the thrill of a

lifetime.

Having a huge crowd of people give you a standing ovation was worth

every pain staking moment of the past 6 months.

Last month I sent out a notice regarding newsletter articles just like I do every month. J.B. responded and told me that he was partici-

pating in a play, what the name was, and that his wife had dared him to try out. I knew there was more to the story than the little bit

he had sent me. So, I asked him to send me more information along with a photo that I could use for the July newsletter. Below is his

story. J.B. is the guy in the back with the military-style hat.

Thanks, J.B. I hope you have many more opportunities to reach out and do something fun.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of bacon fat

1/2 cup of heavy cream, half and half or milk

1/2 cup of water

1 teaspoon of cornstarch

6 ears of corn, shucked, stripped and scraped

1 teaspoon of granulated sugar

Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Melt the bacon fat in a stainless or cast iron skillet on slightly over a medium heat.

Combine the milk and water; whisk in the cornstarch. Add the corn and stir together.

Pour into the hot bacon drippings and cook for about 15 minutes, or until reduced and

thickened, stirring frequently. If desired, remove about half of the corn from the skillet,

pulverize it in a blender, then return it to the skillet if you want a more traditional

creamed corn.

Variation: For extra richness, eliminate the water and use 1 full cup of heavy cream.

Can also use butter in place of the bacon drippings, or use a combination. Stir in 1 ounce

of cream cheese, or 1/4 cup of sour cream gary roberts call john to claim your prize at

the end and warm through. Can also substitute a large (32 ounce) bag of frozen or ap-

proximately 3 (15 ounce) cans of corn, drained, if desired.
