The idea of the industrial port model began in Asian

ports and was then quickly adopted in the other con-

tinents, because of its integrating function, efficiency,

and its contribution to the development of investment.

An industrial port is designed to receive industrial facilities in

which port structures are integrated. It does not require spe-

cific natural conditions because it can adapt its infrastructure

and facilities to the needs of the industry and it allows the

entry of deep draft vessels, promoting a harmonious, self-

sufficient regional development. In addition it has a funda-

mental feature: the urban area is separated from the indus-

trial zone, but joined by an unbreakable link provided by the

participation of skilled labor.

During the late seventies, the Federal Government began the

Industrial Ports Program, and within this plan the PORT OF AL-

TAMIRA was conceived, foreseeing the arrival of deep draft

vessels with a greater load capacity, to be able to decentralize

the production activity of the large economic centers of the

country, as well as to open new options for foreign trade in

the Gulf of Mexico.

Dredging of the navigation channel of the Port of Altamira began

in 1981, and it commenced operations on June 1, 1985 with

only one 250-meter berth and a 5-hectare storage yard.

The Ports Law was amended eight years later, which allowed

the creation of the Administraciones Portuarias Integrales (APIs,

Spanish acronym) commercial enterprise operated with fede-

ral capital.

The Administración Portuaria Integral de Altamira was incorpo-

rated in 1994 when the port already had 3 mooring sections of

250-meter long, dedicated to handling containers and break bulk

cargo, in addition to 4 private terminals for petrochemical fluids.

IT IS THE MEXICAN PORT THAT ATTRACTS THE HIGHEST

VOLUME OF PRIVATE INVESTMENT, AND ONE OF THE

PORTS THAT MAKES THE HIGHEST PUBLIC INVESTMENT.

8

The API was granted the whole concession for the use and

exploitation of the public property within the Altamira Port

Facilities, with an extension of 3,075 hectares, thus initiating

its efforts to the objective of improve the effectiveness of the

port, satisfy the market demand, promote private investment

and consolidate its growth.

It is the Mexican port that attracts the highest volume of

private investment, besides being one of the highest ports

levels of government investment. In the last 10 years the

Port Management has invested more than 3.5 billion pe-

sos in port infrastructure, vital to maintain as a competitive

port, such as: dredging, construction of breakwaters, safe-

ty and maritime signaling and railroad connection works,

among others.

During the last 10 years companies in the petrochemical, plastics,

metal-mechanical and logistic fields have made private investments

of over 23 billion pesos.

The companies established in the Port generate about 6,331

direct and 25,342 indirect jobs, as well as an estimated yearly

impact on the economy of over 42 billion pesos, and it repre-

sents 11% of the GDP of the state of Tamaulipas.

The Port of Altamira has an enormous growth potential, be-

cause of its large area for future expantion and its excellent

and privileged geographical location. It is currently placed as the

port with the highest growth perspective in the Gulf of Mexico.

Industrial Park. An area of 5,098 hectares,

of which 54% (2,800 hectares) are currently

available, with all the basic infrastructure and

services for the installation of industrial and

port projects.

It represents the industrial area with the greatest

expansion potential in the State of Tamaulipas,

favoring companies with large scale production

that seek and need production changes and va-

lue.

In this area you can find an ample range of indus-

trial activity, such as petrochemical, oil platform

construction, heavy industrial equipment, steel,

power generation, textile and plastics, among oth-

ers.

It is important to point out the availability of supplies in the

industrial development area, such as power, water and natural

gas, which ease the attraction and operation of new busines-

ses, as well as the easy access to terrestrial, sea and air com-

munication.

Altamira is in fact the Mexican port that receives the greatest

private investment. Only in 2013 was invested over 1.1 million

pesos.

Its closeness to the port allows the industries located here to

make their logistics processes more efficient, which turns into

economic advantages, which gives an added value to the ope-

rations of the Port of Altamira. Today, more than 40 compa-

nies of Mexican, Indian, Korean, German, Dutch, American and

Japanese origin, have discovered in Altamira the best option to

develop their businesses.

Ecological Buffer Zone. To protect and create a natural divi-

sion between the city and the industry, there are 1,422 hecta-

res of Ecological Buffer Zone, which surround the Industrial Port

Complex of Altamira, and also creates adequate environments

for the life of a great diversity of animal and vegetable species,

providing a natural balance between industry and ecology.

The Altamira Port Industrial Complex is today the

youngest project of its type on the Gulf of Mexi-

co, with more than 9,500 hectares, it is also the

project with the greatest development and growth in the

country.

Conceived under the model of an Industrial Port, it offers the

advantage of having in one place an Indus-

trial Park with its own port, becoming the

best option for investors who are looking

to start or expand their business.

It excellent location offers its clients:

· Easy and quick access to raw materials for

manufacture and industrial processes.

· Extensive land reserves for future

expansion of infrastructure and areas for

new industries.

· Availability of natural resources and ener-

gy sources.

·Excellent range of transportation and

logistics service, with terrestrial, rail and sea national and in-

ternational connections.

There are 3 elements that comprise this complex, the largest

in Mexico and Latin America:

Port Facilities.- Integrated by 3,075 hectares, of which 52%

(1,603 hectares) have been dedicated for terminal develop-

ment, port projects and future expansion, and 48% (1,472

hectares) are reserved for navigation and littoral areas.

The port is currently equipped to handle an ample range of

general and specialized cargo. It has a draft of 40 feet (12.19

meters), which allows it to receive all kinds of sea-going vessels.

There are 12 port terminals installed, and 1 under construc-

tion, all with first-world class infrastructure and high produc-

tivity; as well as 17 berths with the potential to reach 90 in

the future.

Today, the Port of Altamira ranks 1st place in petrochemical

and fluids handling, and 4th in total cargo movement in Mexico,

and it is one of the 4 most important ports in the country,

along with Lázaro Cárdenas, Manzanillo and Veracruz.

(TPA), polietileno tereftalato (PET).

to blanco, D.M.T., polipropileno, A.B.S. y P.V.C.

It is worthwhile mentioning that all the supplies required by

heavy, marine and port industry are here, in Altamira: elec-

tricity, natural gas, water, and excellent-quality labor, which

through the years have placed us as an attraction point for

investments at national and international levels.

What is known today as the Petrochemical Corridor, began

to be developed in the early sixties when the 1st. Dupont

plant was installed in Altamira, other important investments

followed, such as Negromex, Negro de Humo (Grupo Kuo)

and Petrocel, among others. To date, investment in the field

is more than 6 billion US dollars, and represents 30% of the

production of chemicals and petrochemicals generated in the

country, this as a result of its geographical advantages and

natural resources of the area, which makes Altamira the most

important producer of plastic resins in Mexico, manufacturing

more than 2.3 million tons per year, 70% of the production

capacity installed in the country.

Likewise, 30% of the total of private chemical and petroche-

mical production is generated in the area. The main products

include titanium dioxide, (white pigment), polyvinyl chloride

(PVC), terephthalic acid (TPA), polyethylene terephthalate

(PET). 100% of the national production of synthetic rubber

comes from Altamira, which thus forms the largest Petroche-

mical Cluster in Mexico, with a vocation highly oriented to

exports, selling its products in more than 55 countries in 5

continents..

Altamira is a national leader in the production and export of

synthetic rubbers, carbon black, thermoplastic resins, white

pigment, D.M.T., polypropylene, A.B.S. and P.V.C.

The Industrial Port Complex represents the heavy industry

area with the greatest growth potential in the state of Ta-

maulipas.

Today, there are over 40 companies installed, some of them

dedicated to offer comprehensive and alternate solutions

for commerce, such as goods storage, transportation compa-

nies with operation yards, customs agents with service yards

for consolidation and deconsolidation, repair and cleaning of

containers, incineration plant for burning residues, etc.

It is important to point out that the companies in the petro-

chemical corridor and the industrial park have formed and or-

ganized associations, work groups, and strategic alliances to

represent their interests, therefore the new companies that

settle at the port find a favorable entrepreneurial atmosphere,

as well as a community and society that is aware of the impor-

tance of these companies for the development of the city and

the well-being of their families.

As part of the new technological era age? and quality

culture we are being subjected to, API ALTAMIRA has

implemented two systems that benefit the port opera-

tions in addition to placing it as a competitive port development:

Quality Seal Guarantee and Paperless Port.

QUALITY SEAL GUARANTEE

Developed at the Port of Valencia, and adopted by several

ports around the world, the Quality Seal Guarantee is an in-

tegral quality system that offers compliance of port service

standards, which are acquired voluntarily by the service pro-

viders (Users of the brand) and result in guaranteed proces-

ses, thus allowing surpassing the expectations of the port's

customers.

Starting in 2011, Altamira became the first port in Mexico to

offer two guarantees:

Ship Berthing Guarantee, which is provided at the ATP, IPM,

IPA, CTS and NEGROMEX terminals, and consists of having the

vessel docked moored and ready to start operations in a maxi-

mum time of 2 hours and 30 minutes counting from its arrival

at the landfall buoy (as long as the vessel has all the necessary

authorizations).

In the environmental and promotion of short distance mariti-

me transportation field there is a continuous relationship with

some of the main Gulf of Mexico ports of the United States.

In addition, there are collaboration agreements with the City

of Guanajuato, Puerto Interior y SID, Querétaro Multimodal

Terminal Multimodal Terminal (Dry Ports), with the purpose

of performing promotional activities, providing an optimal and

specialized attention to clients and users, as well as partici-

pating in market studies and research about transportation

costs and logistics chains.

The Port Logistics Information Center of Altamira was created

in alliance with the Monterrey Technological and Higher Stu-

dies Institute, Tampico Campus, and for the promotion and

development of logistics activities, the capacities of logistic

services providers and the competitiveness of companies by

means of the generation of timely information to make deci-

sions and implement successful strategies.

Through various associations we strive to keep a close link

with all actions in favor of foreign trade, the quality of services

and commitment to the community and the environment.

A continuación, se enuncian las

asociaciones:

Below is a list of the associations

artificiales, utilizando mangle rojo, negro, blanco y botón.

ner tallas mayores.

PROGRAMAS SOCIALESSOCIAL PROGRAMS

Throughout the year there are activities that promote

the preservation of the environment and social respon-

sibility, and the care of flora and fauna that cohabits

with the port community and the society of the south of Ta-

maulipas.

Wetlands Project:

As part of the environmental programs, we have a project that

consists of the reforestation of 50.72 hectares of artificial

wetlands, using red, black, white and button mangrove.

It is important to point out that this project is the largest of its

type in the country, because the idea of creating an artificial

wetland is that it may serve as a natural area for local and

migratory birds. The protection of wetlands is cataloged, both

nationally and internationally, as natural areas with priority;

but in addition, wetlands are the home of a great number of

animal species, such as for example: red and blue crabs, hermit

crabs, shrimps and snails. They are also hiding places for small

fish, which they take refuge from their predators among the

roots of the mangroves until they reach a larger size.

Wetlands alsoabsorb large amounts of water, thus lowering

the levels caused by excessive rainfall, and they also serve as a

natural barrier that contains contaminants that are harmful to

humans, such as heavy metals.

"El Edén" Greenhouse :

Within the port an area was destined to harbor a tree gre-

enhouse, which has been functioning as a temporary keeping

place for rescued wild plants as well to reproducing a variety

of forest trees, which have been donated to companies which

wish to reforest their open areas.

Some of the species used

in reforestation are:

• Casuarina,• Ebony,• Rosewood,• Royal Palm,• Neem,• Oak,• Ceiba, and the various species of mangrove, among many others.

til Comunitarios (CAIC´s); espacios educativos y recreativos

ciones necesitadas, ofreciendo instalaciones seguras y dignas,

lias afectadas.

ThThe commitment that the Port has with the local

community has encouraged various social activities

in support of children, and as far as education is con-

cerned??, working jointly with the Port Community, Child As-

sistance Centers (CAICs, Spanish acronym) and educational

and recreational facilities were built, the purpose of which is to

provide attention to low-income working mothers.

To the present, 3 CAICs have been built in needy zones of

Altamira, offering safe and worthy facilities, which in turn help

pupils achieve better performance at school.

As part of the marketing program, approximately 1,500 stu-

dents a year, from schools from all over the country, and who

wish to get to know and understand the operation and contri-

bution of the Port to the economy and the community visit us.

Seeking to be a company with sustainable development, we

are currently investing in infrastructure that is environment-

friendly, both in lighting and in building materials, equipment,

and office supplies. We also promote a culture of separating

solid refuse for recycling.

Another way the Port contributes to its city is by calling the

industrial community to support emergency campaigns to mi-

tigate the needs created by natural catastrophes, such as the

floods caused by storms "Ingrid" and "Manuel", obtaining a

favorable and benefiting thousands of affected families.

UNIFORMES DE TAMPICO began in 1956

as a company dedicated to the production

and marketing of uniforms, aimed specially

at the industrial and commercial areas.

Our operations headquarters are in Tampico,

in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, where

we give service to our Distribution Centers

located throughout the country, as well as

corporate groups and companies.

Thanks to our permanent commitment

towards constant improvement, in 1988

we inaugurated the facilities of our factory,

warehouse and corporate offices in an area

of over 3,500 m2.

Our factory has the most modern technolo-

gy available to this industrial activity, which

means working with computerized systems

from the beginning of our process, in the de-

sign and cutting areas. The production lines

work with high efficiency rates and a very

high flexibility, which allow the production of

a very wide variety of uniforms that repre-

sent an annual volume of almost 850,000

garments. We also have a computerized de-

sign, embroidery, and screen-print system,

which enables us to give an added service in

our industrial and casual uniforms.

Currently we have more than 15 Distribution

Centers, perfectly located throughout the

country, where we offer the service of uni-

forms to wholesalers, embroiders and clients,

with the best quality and price in the market.

Our delivery times are INCOMPARABLE, since

we have over 200,000 garments in stock for

IMMEDIATE DELIVERY, in different styles and

colors.

We are committed to maintaining an on-

going improvement in our quality and servi-

ce systems to guarantee the quality of our

garments and the overall satisfaction of our

clients.

Was founded in 1943 as a result of the far

reaching vision of Eugenio Garza Sada who,

leading a group of Mexican businessmen,

realizes the desire to create a cutting-edge

educational institution that would mature

and eventually become one of the best.

Tecnológico de Monterrey opened its

Tampico´s Campus in September 1981, and

the prestige that it has enjoyed since its in-

ception stems both from its academic level

and from the culture of entrepreneurship,

hard work, efficiency, and responsibility ins-

tilled in its alumni and professionals. Since

then, there has been a frontal approach with

the established industry on the region for co-

llaboration and support.

Tecnológico de Monterrey is a motor for de-

velopment by virtue of its ability to transform

and make a positive impact on the country’s

current reality in the economic, social and po-

litical areas.

With its knowledge and ability to transfer

technology to society and the business sec-

tor, its spirit of entrepreneurship and mo-

dels for social development, Tecnológico de

Monterrey has a primary goal: to encourage

students, faculty administrators and collabo-

rators to become entrepreneurs, innovators

and socially responsible individuals.

This undertaking is aimed at building a more

balanced society, one with a greater focus on

sustained growth and on the comprehensive

development of a more prosperous equitable

country.

Tecnológico de Monterrey, through its Con-

sultancy and Continuous Education Division

is committed to provide the highest quality

in continuing professional development and

business solutions in management and engi-

neering.
