The idea of the industrial port model began in Asian
ports and was then quickly adopted in the other con-
tinents, because of its integrating function, efficiency,
and its contribution to the development of investment.
An industrial port is designed to receive industrial facilities in
which port structures are integrated. It does not require spe-
cific natural conditions because it can adapt its infrastructure
and facilities to the needs of the industry and it allows the
entry of deep draft vessels, promoting a harmonious, self-
sufficient regional development. In addition it has a funda-
mental feature: the urban area is separated from the indus-
trial zone, but joined by an unbreakable link provided by the
participation of skilled labor.
During the late seventies, the Federal Government began the
Industrial Ports Program, and within this plan the PORT OF AL-
TAMIRA was conceived, foreseeing the arrival of deep draft
vessels with a greater load capacity, to be able to decentralize
the production activity of the large economic centers of the
country, as well as to open new options for foreign trade in
the Gulf of Mexico.
Dredging of the navigation channel of the Port of Altamira began
in 1981, and it commenced operations on June 1, 1985 with
only one 250-meter berth and a 5-hectare storage yard.
The Ports Law was amended eight years later, which allowed
the creation of the Administraciones Portuarias Integrales (APIs,
Spanish acronym) commercial enterprise operated with fede-
ral capital.
The Administración Portuaria Integral de Altamira was incorpo-
rated in 1994 when the port already had 3 mooring sections of
250-meter long, dedicated to handling containers and break bulk
cargo, in addition to 4 private terminals for petrochemical fluids.

The API was granted the whole concession for the use and
exploitation of the public property within the Altamira Port
Facilities, with an extension of 3,075 hectares, thus initiating
its efforts to the objective of improve the effectiveness of the
port, satisfy the market demand, promote private investment
and consolidate its growth.
It is the Mexican port that attracts the highest volume of
private investment, besides being one of the highest ports
levels of government investment. In the last 10 years the
Port Management has invested more than 3.5 billion pe-
sos in port infrastructure, vital to maintain as a competitive
port, such as: dredging, construction of breakwaters, safe-
ty and maritime signaling and railroad connection works,
among others.
During the last 10 years companies in the petrochemical, plastics,
metal-mechanical and logistic fields have made private investments
of over 23 billion pesos.
The companies established in the Port generate about 6,331
direct and 25,342 indirect jobs, as well as an estimated yearly
impact on the economy of over 42 billion pesos, and it repre-
sents 11% of the GDP of the state of Tamaulipas.
The Port of Altamira has an enormous growth potential, be-
cause of its large area for future expantion and its excellent
and privileged geographical location. It is currently placed as the
port with the highest growth perspective in the Gulf of Mexico.

(TPA), polietileno tereftalato (PET).
to blanco, D.M.T., polipropileno, A.B.S. y P.V.C.

It is worthwhile mentioning that all the supplies required by
heavy, marine and port industry are here, in Altamira: elec-
tricity, natural gas, water, and excellent-quality labor, which
through the years have placed us as an attraction point for
investments at national and international levels.
What is known today as the Petrochemical Corridor, began
to be developed in the early sixties when the 1st. Dupont
plant was installed in Altamira, other important investments
followed, such as Negromex, Negro de Humo (Grupo Kuo)
and Petrocel, among others. To date, investment in the field
is more than 6 billion US dollars, and represents 30% of the
production of chemicals and petrochemicals generated in the
country, this as a result of its geographical advantages and
natural resources of the area, which makes Altamira the most
important producer of plastic resins in Mexico, manufacturing
more than 2.3 million tons per year, 70% of the production
capacity installed in the country.
Likewise, 30% of the total of private chemical and petroche-
mical production is generated in the area. The main products
include titanium dioxide, (white pigment), polyvinyl chloride
(PVC), terephthalic acid (TPA), polyethylene terephthalate
(PET). 100% of the national production of synthetic rubber
comes from Altamira, which thus forms the largest Petroche-
mical Cluster in Mexico, with a vocation highly oriented to
exports, selling its products in more than 55 countries in 5
continents..
Altamira is a national leader in the production and export of
synthetic rubbers, carbon black, thermoplastic resins, white
pigment, D.M.T., polypropylene, A.B.S. and P.V.C.
The Industrial Port Complex represents the heavy industry
area with the greatest growth potential in the state of Ta-
maulipas.
Today, there are over 40 companies installed, some of them
dedicated to offer comprehensive and alternate solutions
for commerce, such as goods storage, transportation compa-
nies with operation yards, customs agents with service yards
for consolidation and deconsolidation, repair and cleaning of
containers, incineration plant for burning residues, etc.
It is important to point out that the companies in the petro-
chemical corridor and the industrial park have formed and or-
ganized associations, work groups, and strategic alliances to
represent their interests, therefore the new companies that
settle at the port find a favorable entrepreneurial atmosphere,
as well as a community and society that is aware of the impor-
tance of these companies for the development of the city and
the well-being of their families.

As part of the new technological era age? and quality
culture we are being subjected to, API ALTAMIRA has
implemented two systems that benefit the port opera-
tions in addition to placing it as a competitive port development:
Quality Seal Guarantee and Paperless Port.
QUALITY SEAL GUARANTEE
Developed at the Port of Valencia, and adopted by several
ports around the world, the Quality Seal Guarantee is an in-
tegral quality system that offers compliance of port service
standards, which are acquired voluntarily by the service pro-
viders (Users of the brand) and result in guaranteed proces-
ses, thus allowing surpassing the expectations of the port's
customers.
Starting in 2011, Altamira became the first port in Mexico to
offer two guarantees:
Ship Berthing Guarantee, which is provided at the ATP, IPM,
IPA, CTS and NEGROMEX terminals, and consists of having the
vessel docked moored and ready to start operations in a maxi-
mum time of 2 hours and 30 minutes counting from its arrival
at the landfall buoy (as long as the vessel has all the necessary
authorizations).

artificiales, utilizando mangle rojo, negro, blanco y botón.
ner tallas mayores.
PROGRAMAS SOCIALESSOCIAL PROGRAMS

Throughout the year there are activities that promote
the preservation of the environment and social respon-
sibility, and the care of flora and fauna that cohabits
with the port community and the society of the south of Ta-
maulipas.
Wetlands Project:
As part of the environmental programs, we have a project that
consists of the reforestation of 50.72 hectares of artificial
wetlands, using red, black, white and button mangrove.
It is important to point out that this project is the largest of its
type in the country, because the idea of creating an artificial
wetland is that it may serve as a natural area for local and
migratory birds. The protection of wetlands is cataloged, both
nationally and internationally, as natural areas with priority;
but in addition, wetlands are the home of a great number of
animal species, such as for example: red and blue crabs, hermit
crabs, shrimps and snails. They are also hiding places for small
fish, which they take refuge from their predators among the
roots of the mangroves until they reach a larger size.
Wetlands alsoabsorb large amounts of water, thus lowering
the levels caused by excessive rainfall, and they also serve as a
natural barrier that contains contaminants that are harmful to
humans, such as heavy metals.
"El Edén" Greenhouse :
Within the port an area was destined to harbor a tree gre-
enhouse, which has been functioning as a temporary keeping
place for rescued wild plants as well to reproducing a variety
of forest trees, which have been donated to companies which
wish to reforest their open areas.

til Comunitarios (CAIC´s); espacios educativos y recreativos
ciones necesitadas, ofreciendo instalaciones seguras y dignas,

lias afectadas.

ThThe commitment that the Port has with the local
community has encouraged various social activities
in support of children, and as far as education is con-
cerned??, working jointly with the Port Community, Child As-
sistance Centers (CAICs, Spanish acronym) and educational
and recreational facilities were built, the purpose of which is to
provide attention to low-income working mothers.
To the present, 3 CAICs have been built in needy zones of
Altamira, offering safe and worthy facilities, which in turn help
pupils achieve better performance at school.
As part of the marketing program, approximately 1,500 stu-
dents a year, from schools from all over the country, and who
wish to get to know and understand the operation and contri-
bution of the Port to the economy and the community visit us.
Seeking to be a company with sustainable development, we
are currently investing in infrastructure that is environment-
friendly, both in lighting and in building materials, equipment,
and office supplies. We also promote a culture of separating
solid refuse for recycling.
Another way the Port contributes to its city is by calling the
industrial community to support emergency campaigns to mi-
tigate the needs created by natural catastrophes, such as the
floods caused by storms "Ingrid" and "Manuel", obtaining a
favorable and benefiting thousands of affected families.

and marketing of uniforms, aimed specially
at the industrial and commercial areas.
Our operations headquarters are in Tampico,
in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, where

Our factory has the most modern technolo-
gy available to this industrial activity, which
means working with computerized systems
from the beginning of our process, in the de-

work with high efficiency rates and a very
high flexibility, which allow the production of
a very wide variety of uniforms that repre-
sent an annual volume of almost 850,000
garments. We also have a computerized de-
sign, embroidery, and screen-print system,
which enables us to give an added service in
our industrial and casual uniforms.
Currently we have more than 15 Distribution
Centers, perfectly located throughout the
country, where we offer the service of uni-
forms to wholesalers, embroiders and clients,
with the best quality and price in the market.
