Identity Theft Prevention Tip by Robert baier, Forensic Document examiner and book Author
One of the worst things that anyone can do—and one of the easiest ways to help criminals steal your identity—is to install a P2P program on your computer. Examples of Peer To Peer programs are Lime Wire, Bear Share, and Soul Seek (iTunes is fine). In my experience, I do not know of one person age 8 to 28 that is not downloading free games and music from the internet. If a P2P program is installed on your computer, everyone in the world has total access to every single item on your hard drive anytime you are on the internet. Ask your son or daughter if they installed a P2P on your computer. Remove the program immediately and place it onto a thumb drive.
You will all be pleased to know that the Chamber had a great 2009, adding 112 new members and counting as we move forward! This might well be attributed to tough times, during which networking has been a proven tool for giving businesses an edge. As we witness the economy starting to improve, I am confident that our functions will remain popular as a means of mutual support. My sincere condolences to those who were unable to attend our fabulous 70th Anniversary Gala – A Walk Through Time. Nostalgia abounded, and five members were honored for having been with the Chamber for all 70 years! This year’s event was held at Crystal Springs Resort with approximately 160 people there to celebrate.
Our 21st Applefest might well have been one of the largest ever with over 35,000 people. We are grateful to so many people for continuing to work on this annual event. In case you haven’t heard, we have a much-improved website with an expanded product directory. Don’t forget to take advantage of this valuable resource.
Please join me in hoping for a promising year of business recovery. I know we are doing better than most, and the talent we collectively possess will certainly help to keep it that way. If there is any way the Chamber can help you, please give me a call!
Our second annual Winter Dining in the Warwick Valley, organized by the Warwick Restaurant Coalition, will offer exciting dining discounts for a limited time only. Chairperson Erik Johansen of The Iron Forge Inn has a refined version of last year’s event. Many businesses will benefit; members of the Merchants’ Guild, the Bed & Breakfast Association and participating eateries. Your questions may be answered by
