Visitor Research**Fusion Communications conducted a web-based visitor survey between 12 - 22 May. 6,241 questionnaires

were sent out which received 590 responses.

• 81% of visitors said Publican Live was excellent for finding products and services which is one of the

major reasons why they attended.

• 86% of visitors felt it was in tune with what’s going on with the market place.

• On average visitors spend 5 hours at Publican Live.

• 90% of visitors would recommend Publican Live to their colleagues that they would benefit from attending.

• Publican Live provides strong content through its features and educational programme. 80% of visitors

rated all the features as useful or very useful.

• Even with the re-brand and change of name from Pub & Bar to Publican Live 76% of visitors rated the

reputation of the show as good or excellent.

2008 Feature Areas

The Publican Theatre The Publican magazine team is taking over the theatre. Caroline, Dan,

Adam, John, James, Phil and Nick will be hosting a series of workshops and

seminars focusing on the highly successful Sell More Save More and Proud

of Pubs projects. Plus Wine Intelligence will be looking at how to increase

trade with the right wine selection.

The Cellar Back for another year the Cellar Talks are a must attend for any publican.

Focusing on efficient cellar management and best practice this year’s talks

will be a major draw.

3663 Food Experience With three days of live cooking demonstrations that will give real food for

thought, 3663 will inspire visitors with some fantastic ideas on how to use

everyday ingredients to create exceptional dishes – dishes that will impress

customers and generate additional profits.

The Wine and Spirit Wine and spirits are an important part of a pub’s attraction. But stocking the

Sampling Piazza right selection is crucial to keeping customers coming back. Help is at hand.

This year The Wine and Spirit Education Trust will be running a series of

master classes throughout the show to make sure publicans get it right.

The SIBA Local Boost Sales With Local Ales is the message SIBA will be presenting at

Publican Live in 2008. At the SIBA Local visitors can sample 32 regional ales

from some of the country’s best independent breweries.

The Publican Pub Networking is a highly important part of the show. This year visitors can

relax and meet industry colleagues in our purpose built pub. Plus BuzzTime

will be hosting a number of interactive quizzes throughout the show.

Capitalise on the demand for wine in the pub trade

Wine sales have represented the biggest area of growth in the pub trade for the last two years, and there are no signs

that this will slow down. A wine intelligence survey commissioned in 2006 highlighted that 72% of wine drinkers

drink wine in pubs. However 36% thought the range and quality of wines available was poor with only 24% finding

good wine selections. This situation is changing with more and more publicans realising the financial benefits of

stocking a good range of quality wines.

50% of pubs now stock over eight different wines.

The message is clear; the opportunity for wine suppliers to add a massive boost to their business through the pub

trade is enormous.

• Consumer demand for good quality and broader selections of wines is high.

• Publicans are realising this potential and are embracing it.

• The trend towards pubs as a dining experience is driving the need for better wines.

• 74% of pubs now serve wine from the bottle with only 6% from a bag in a box.

• The majority of tenanted landlords are not tied when it comes to wine purchase.
