PUBLIC INFORMATION EVENT LIGHTBODY STREET Torus Developments is proposing to develop vacant land at 2-6 Lightbody Street (L5 9UZ) into a striking mixed-use residential and commercial scheme. The design of the proposed development strives to reinterpret the site’s architectural history, using materials that are sympathetic to the industrial heritage of the area. At ground floor level, the aim is to create a positive dialogue with the adjacent canal and public green spaces. We have set out plans for: 16 townhouses (2 and 3-bed) and 197 apartments (1,2 and 3-bed): we anticipate all homes will be available for affordable home ownership through the Rent to Buy scheme • Spaces for commercial use: located at ground floor level and within the disused railway arches to the rear of the site, we expect these spaces to be occupied by digital/creative industries, alongside retail and cafés/restaurants An application for planning permission is expected to be submitted to Liverpool City Council later this summer. Event Information We are holding a Public Information Event on Tuesday 9th July to show our plans for the site. The event will take place at: the Eldonian Village Hall, Burlington Street, Liverpool L3 6LG. 3pm - 7pm. We welcome your views on the development. Go to our online consultation page: www.lmhsales.co.uk/Lightbody-Street to have your say. Alternatively, you can get in touch with Torus’ planning agent Cushman and Wakefield, which is preparing and submitting the planning application: email: [email protected] Cushman and Wakefield, 1 Marsden Street, Manchester, M2 1HW There will be a further opportunity to provide feedback through Liverpool City Council’s statutory consultation process once the application has been submitted.

  • About Torus An ambitious and established housing group, Torus is one of the North West’s largest landlords.

Working closely with local partners, our development programme of at least 5,300 new homes by 2024 targets modern, sustainable homes that reflect local need, regenerate neighbourhoods and also support and strengthen local communities.

Any profits made through Torus Developments activities are Gift Aided to the group’s charity the Torus Foundation, which strives to address deprivation, promote inclusion and change lives.

Why Lightbody Street? The site represents a rare development opportunity adjacent to the beautiful Stanley Flight canal locks, which form a key part of the UNESCO designated Mercantile City World Heritage Site. We regard this as a flagship scheme for Torus Developments, which would builds on the success of the nearby Titanic Hotel and continues the regeneration of the Ten Streets area, consistent with the Council’s adopted guidance for this part of Liverpool.
