The SVC while reviewing the long pending cases of public importance with SVO has expressed strong displeasure over tardy pace of investiga- tions. It has asked for final report in the preliminary enquiry under probe with SVO against G A Bhat by end of December this year, a senior officer of SVC said. In the backdrop, the SVC took cognizance of a complaint lodged against Bhat relating to misuse of official position, misappropriation of govern- ment funds, accumulation of disproportionate assets, besides illegal appointments made in the Department in violation of standing rules and norms by the said ex-Director. The Commission vide its order dated June 24, 2015 had directed Vigilance Organiza- tion to conduct a preliminary enquiry in light of the allega- tions levelled in the said com- plaint, he said. The SVO vide communica- tion dated November 26, 2015, has sought more time for sub- mission of the report in the matter, he said. The SVC while hearing the case, directed the Vigilance Organization to take a final call in the matter and submit final report of the said enquiry to the Commission by or before December 14, failing which Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) concerned shall have to appear personally before the Commission on the next date of hearing. The SVO has been given time till end of this year to finalize investigation in iden- tified important cases, so that the guilty are brought to book and public confidence restored in the anti-corruption bodies of the government, he added. PTI Srinagar, Dec 7: Army organ- ised a medical cum veterinary camp at Chuntimulla village of Bandipora district where specialist medical, health and hygiene and veterinary care facilities were made available to the locals. “Doctors from both Army and district health department worked together benefitting over 500 patients and 800 live- stock with medical care, advice and treatment as also propagat- ing health awareness,” defence spokesman Col N N Joshi said. Meanwhile, Army camp located at Paribal, Bandipora distributed training aids and study material to the students of Government Middle School MS Mir village of Bandipora district. “Army provided books, classroom furniture and sta- tionary items to the students,” the spokesman said. Border Security Force constable Raman Kumar, a resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab, who was posted at 78th battalion of BSF at Shergarh camp in Gadi- garh area, was seriously injured when his service rifle went off accidental- ly in his unit yesterday, a police spokesman said today. He was immediately shifted to Government Med- ical College (GMC) hospital where he succumbed to inju- ries, he said. The body was handed over to BSF after the post mortem, he said adding that a case has been registered and investigation was on. PTI Jammu, Dec 7: Director Sainik Welfare Board (SWB), Brig Harcharan Singh, called on the Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed here this morning for pinning ceremony to mark the Armed Forces’ Flag Day. The Flag Day is observed every year on December 7 to collect funds for welfare of armed forces’ personnel. The Chief Minister urged people to contribute generously for the needy ex-servicemen, widows and dependent families of the personnel. After completion of medico- legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his next of kins for last rites.
