Bionomics:    The larvae occur in temporary rain‐filled pools, par cularly in or near thickets, in overflow pools along streams, and occasionally in potholes in stream beds a er summer rains. They develop rapidly. The females are persis‐tent and painful biters. (Capenter and LaCasse, 1955)

Medical Importance:    Females of this species frequently carry eggs of Dermatobia in eastern Colombia and have also been found infested with Dermatobia eggs in Panama (Capenter and LaCasse, 1955). It is also a poten al vector of Ven‐ezuelan equine encephali s (VEE) (Fora ni, 1965).
