PSI Journal Club

PSI (Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry) has a

new Journal Club. Once a quarter we host teleconferences

lasting 1hour 30mins open to members and non-members

with no need to pre-register. Two papers are selected

from Pharmaceutical Statistics and authors are invited

to present their papers for 20mins followed by 20mins

discussion. Papers and slides are available to download

beforehand from a public area of the PSI website: http://

www.psiweb.org/journalclub. Audio and video recordings

of the meeting are available to download from the website

shortly after the meeting ends, and are also available

as podcasts.

The first PSI Journal Club meeting, which was held on

1st December 2009 with John Whitehead and Kevin Carrol

presenting, Steve Pyke chairing, was a great success. The

technology was simple to use and we had two great speakers

with just the right amount of discussion. Approximately 150

people attended that meeting, calling in from the UK,

Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Denmark

and the US. We also had very positive feedback afterwards

about the availability of podcasts and feedback from a small

post meeting survey was also very positive.

Our next Journal Club TC is taking place on

Wednesday 24th March 2010 with Richard Nixon and

Les Huson presenting and Sara Hughes chairing. Full

details of this TC can be found in the flier below. Audio

and video recordings of this meeting will be made avail-

able shortly afterwards via the webpage (link above).

Future meetings are being planned for June, September

and December 2010.
