About Layers

Why are layers important?

Layers are like transparencies stacked one on top of one another. Each layer can have different images and effects. When the layers are stacked, the images appear as if they are all a single image.

Layers allow users to work on separate images in order to modify sections without changing the entire image.

Look at this image and determine the layering

Background Image

The figure is on top of the background layer

The black stripe overlaps the figure

The circle shape rests on top of the stripe

And the Numbers rest on top of the circle

Changing the SIZE of Something

In Photoshop, this is known as

TRANSFORM

As you can see, there are a number of transform options in Photoshop to

experiment with. The transform options allow you to do more specific

transformations, but if you’re simply looking to change the size of something, just use FREE

TRANSFORM
