To meet the challenge ofcutting energy costs and helping to reduce emissions,the system employs advanced technologies, including
solar-power for its PIR occupancy sensors. Sense™ isable to determine whether a classroom is occupied or not,and deactivate the lighting as needed. Natural daylight isharvested when available, automatically dimming thelighting from the appropriate fixtures. And because thesystem is wireless, it saves both material andmanpower costs in its installation.

Planning Information. Motion Sensors: Ceiling mounted occupancy sensor has a walking motion radius of just over 20’ feetof coverage, or about 1500 SF in a space with a 9-ft ceiling. Sensor is solar powered, with the charge lasting about 48 hours.Sensor is set to power off all lamps if the room is unoccupied for 10 minutes. Luminaires are manually switched on at theclassroom door, or teacher control switch, so that lights do not trip on unintentionally.
Daylight Harvesting Sensors: Fixture integrated daylight harvesting sensors should belocated over typical work surfaces, within 6-10 feet of the window. A typicaldaylighting zone is usually 15 feet in from the window wall. Specific site conditionswill dictate the designation of dimming zones.
If fixture rows are parallel to windows, one daylight sensor can control the entirewindow row. Inside fixture row may or may not need a daylight sensor, depending onroom conditions. One sensor can control up to twenty 0-10V dimming ballasts.In the Sense™ System, only the outer lamp rows are controlled by the daylightsensors. The center lamp row is dimmed manually at the Teacher Control Station.

Determining Row Types
How to order Sense™ System. Transforming classroom lightingwith the energy savings of our Sense™ System controls is easy.It only takes a few steps, outlined in detail below. Before you canspecify the right solution for your needs, you’ll need to start bydetermining the type of rows in each classroom. Are they parallelor perpendicular to the windows? Are the windows high? Onceyou’ve identified your particular scenario, you’re ready to specifythe appropriate luminaires and control systems.

Step2:Specify the Sense™ SystemA: Indicate the room number so that pre-programmedcomponents and fixtures can be labeled, shipped, andinstalled together.

Step1:Specify your luminaire. For all the features of the Sense System, specify Wave2 or Pru15, with 3 lamp rows, D3Cdistribution, dual circuiting, and the INTC (integrated controls) option. Indicate any other options such as extended cablelengths, acrylic dust cover, or emergency batteries.
If the A/V lighting mode feature is not necessary for the project needs, the other features of the system: the wirelessswitching, day light harvesting, and occupancy sensing are still available when a 2-lamp system is specified.

Choose Your Luminaire. Any of the Prudential fixtures shown on the opposite page can be fitted with RightLight™ DaylightHarvesting technology. So make the selection that’s the ideal fixture to help fulfill your aesthetic vision and functional requirements.
RightLight™ comes integrated into our fixtures from the factory. There’s no additional wiring to the fixture, and power packs orDALI ballasts are not required. Our fixtures arrive on the jobsite pre-calibrated to dim when light levels reach 45fc. If adjustmentsare necessary, it’s easy to do in the field. Just turn the bezel, and the photocell’s aperture opens or closes to change thecalibration.
Prudential fixtures fitted with RightLight™ technology are an affordable way to create multiple daylighting zones. The system canoperate up to twenty 0-10V ballasts on one sensor.
Determine your Dimming zones. To determine the number of dimming zones, general design guidelines are to locate the sensorover characteristic work surfaces, approximately 6’ to 10’ from the window. The daylit zone is typically within 15’ of the window.
