TROUP/BRANTON MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT – 20th June 2019
Unfortunately the Troup/Branton Memorial Tournament was cancelled due to the potential for inclement
weather. Rain date has been scheduled for September 26th.
Every Monday afternoon at 1.00 pm, there are an eager number of members who turn out and invest a “Loonie” to play 4-3-2-1. Convened by Suzie Palmer, 4-3-2-1 allows members to practice their skills at getting their bowls closest to the jack and therefore obtain the highest score. Those with the highest score at the end of four games get to win a small monetary prize for their endeavours. Good practice and lots of fun! To encourage new members to play, Suzie came up with the following jingle:
4-3-2-1 Let's go out and have some fun! Sign your name and pay your buck! Enjoy your day & best of luck!

STRAWBERRY NIGHT – June 28th, 2019
A good crowd turned out for
“Strawberry Night” on Friday June
28th. This is one of the “Special
Events” run by the OLBC during the
season and is always a favourite
amongst the strawberry lovers.
The event was delayed by two
weeks this year due to the weather
conditions delaying the strawberry
fruiting.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT CAMP – LINE AND DELIVERY 10th June, 2019
Oshawa held a one-day Player Development camp on
June 10th. Approximately one dozen members came
out to enhance their skills. All went away with ideas of
how to make practice fun. This drill had 2 line jacks
and 2 centre jacks all at different lengths. Use 4 bowls
and play against an opponent and score who gets
closest to each jack. Double your points if the bowl
lands on the coloured mats. Requires focus, length
and line adjustment. The game is challenging and
rewarding. But remember your predelivery.
Special thanks to Heather Comba, Jan Bauer and the other OLBA coaches who spent their time to make this an interesting and informative day.
