The Providence system is designed for service in even the most remote locations.

Page 11: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Stopping disease

In 2009, the Iraqi government ordered 327 of our systems to help stop an outbreak of Cholera.

Page 12: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Clean water for 600,000

The systems were quickly deployed, and now provide safe, clean water for 600,000 Iraqi citizens.

Page 13: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Source Water

Water from rivers, wells, lakes, streams, ponds, even brackish water can be converted to clean water that is safe to drink.

Page 14: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Safe

Once water has passed through the system it is 99.99% free of harmful bacteria, viruses, cysts and pollutants, preventing water-borne diseases like cholera and typhoid.

Page 15: Providence ppt 4 19-11

The system has been proven to convert high turbidity (greater than 50 NTU) surface feed water to clear, clean drinking water (less than 0.2 NTU.)

Page 16: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Filtration Filtration systems are custom designed for your

local water conditions. They can include different combinations of a pre-filter stage, mechanical filtration, reverse osmosis (RO) membrane filtration, and ultra violet light processing. Brackish water can be purified for drinking, or for agricultural use.

Page 17: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Unusual Conditions

In addition to filtration for normally encountered conditions, we can provide filters with special resins to remove unusual threats.

Page 18: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Won’t foul

Unlike other systems, Providence systems feature a unique “straw” that draws in the source water. The straw acts as a preliminary filter, removing particles that often foul pumps in other machines.

This is a huge advantage, and part of the reason why Providence systems function reliably, day after day, year after year.

Page 19: Providence ppt 4 19-11
Page 20: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Reliability and Durability

The system was designed with the knowledge that peoples’ lives depend on its working every day, in the harshest conditions, in truly remote areas.

Page 21: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Long Life

Providence systems are made to provide reliable service for up to 20 years or more, with minimal maintenance.

Page 22: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Automatic

Throughout the day, the system’s automatic tracking mechanism follows the sun and positions the solar panels at the optimal angle, providing maximum power.

This increases efficiency by up to 40 % over stationary arrays.

Page 23: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Early Start

As soon as sun rises, the system wakes up.The submersible pump draws water through the “gills” in the straw, into the gravel pack filter. This filtration eliminates particles down to 400 microns, before the water reaches the main filtration system. This is the key to the system’s dependability and longevity.

.

Page 24: Providence ppt 4 19-11

The submersible pump sends the water through the gravel pack filter, through the PVC straw, up the insulated raw water hose (which can be up to 20 meters long) and into the system’s series of multi-media filters, where the water is filtered to 5 microns or less.

Page 25: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Protected

These filters, along with the membranes, controls, and gauges are contained within the unit’s rugged metal cabinet

This protects against the elements and against unauthorized use.

Page 26: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Ultra-Filtration

The water is pushed through the system’s ultra-filtration membrane, which further eliminates particulates and contamination.

The system will detect any differentials in pressure and will automatically backwash as necessary.

Page 27: Providence ppt 4 19-11

UV Treatment

Next the water is exposed to ultra-violet light, rendering bacteria, viruses and other organic threats harmless.

Page 28: Providence ppt 4 19-11

The system then pumps the purified water to a storage tank, or to a dispensing station

Page 29: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Reverse Osmosis Some source water conditions, like brackish water,

require Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration to purify the water.

Systems equipped with RO filtration pump the water into a storage tank. The water is pumped back into the system under pressure, and through a reverse osmosis membrane. The water is then pumped back out, ready to drink.

Clean water for hundreds, for thousands, even for tens of thousands.

Page 33: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Easy Setup Estimated man-hours and skills required for set up

and break down:

• one qualified electrician or pump technician, plus one helper, can set up a system in one day.

• With experience, a machine can be set up in approximately 4 hours

• These systems can be packed up for re-deployment in 2 hours or less.

Page 34: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Remote Monitoring

Optional onboard computer and microprocessor system allows the unit to be remotely monitored through satellite or cellular technology.

Remote monitoring provides details about system operation and performance, including the performance of individual components.

Page 37: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Less Than A Penny

The total cost of producing a gallon of safe, clean water with our system is less than a penny per gallon.

This includes the capital cost of the machine.

Page 38: Providence ppt 4 19-11

No Fuel Cost

Since the system is powered entirely by the sun, there is no added cost or logistical burden of fuel.

Fuel savings alone can pay for the system over time.

Page 39: Providence ppt 4 19-11

“The conventional method of providing potable water in the wake of a disaster is often costly and logistically complex. Normally, potable water is distributed to communities by trucking in bottled water or using diesel generator purification systems.

Any proposed system must eliminate many points of failure by presenting a stand-alone design allowing for flexible transport of the unit by air, land or water bringing a cost-effective, high-yield water purification capability to potential users incorporating a self-generating power source.”

– US Dept. of Homeland Security

Our systems meet these requirements

Page 40: Providence ppt 4 19-11

Flexible

An optional wind turbine can add power.

The system can also be powered by a battery bank, by a conventional generator, or by connecting to an electrical grid.
