M2 Concept Automation is both a simple and powerful BuildingManagement System product.

It focuses on the needs of the end user in terms of comfort, security, control and ease of use as well as ensuring theinstallation process is simple and exible.

SYSTEMBased on an installation bus driven technology the system is builtup with both inputs (switches and sensors) driving outputs (relaysand control modules) interconnected by a Bus network and allmanaged via a central processing unit (Control Generator).

The system can provide solutions to problems ranging inapplication from Domestic and Retail location through toCommercial and Industrial environments.

Used to control Lighting, Heating, Air-conditioning along sideSafety and Security functions of Fire detection, Intruder alarmsthe system is truly a one-stop shop for Building ManagementSystems.

Control of the system is possible all the way through from localswitches to PC operation/visualization to remote access viamobile or internet.

The system allows consideration of sustainable issues such asefcient energy management through lighting control usingdaylight sensor technology, compliance with safety regulationthough emergency lighting controls and security with motiondetection and smoke/water leak monitoring fully integrated.

    Industrial

    Applications

    Other functions

Safety, security of assets and energy management havenever been more crucial to the operations of manufacturing, distribution and industrial organisations.

Consider a establishment where real-time integration of alarmsystems, employee presence and lighting/heating can beachieved. With a central command centre from which both

monitoring and control actions can be administered, both timeand effort can be optimised.

Mulitpurpose sensors for re hazardous areas, ood riskor general security / intruder detection are just a few ofthe possibilities to help reduce overall running costs for aorganisation.

Linking sprinkler systems withinConcept with smoke detectionsensors is simple.

Entrance / exit control via doorsensors or PIR signals to keep a checkon security.

Water leak detection in key locationof risk or expensive assets can beimplemented with the right system -M2 Concept.

Large premises heating or zonalmanagement of HVAC can becontrolled without investing in costlybespoke solution.

Areas where cabling is difcult orchanging environments are frequent, then wireless options for inputs andoutputs is the solution.

    PID ControllerA proportional integral derivative

controller (PID controller) is ageneric control loop feedback

    mechanism widely used in

industrial control systems and isone of the most commonly used

feedback systems.A PID controller calculates an

    error value as the difference

between a measured processvariable and a desired setpoint. The

    controller then attempts to minimize

the error value by adjusting thesystem inputs available. In the

    absence of in-depth knowledge of

the underlying process, rest assuredthat PID controllers are the best

    controllers.

    Bus Cable

    Bus system cable

System cabling is simple and exible. The bus signal can becarried around the network on standard twisted or non-twistedpair cabling.

The stability and frequency of the control signal allows it tobe installed alongside power cabling and in the same wiringchannels*.

This bus system technology has been adopted from its provensuccessful application in the industrial environment for the past25years and in home automation now for the last 10years.

Transmission of multiple control signals along a 2-wire bus-systems reduces overall cabling material requirements savingtime and money.

    Programming and System functions

The heart of the installation is the M2 Concept Automationcontroller. It is an advanced Windows based central controlunit known as a Channel Generator, which manages all theautomatic functions in your system.

The controller organizes the communication on the conceptbus, which can handle up to 256 addresses split into 128 inputs

and 128 outputs. If this is not enough, up to 3 external busmodules can be connected, bringing the total number ofaddresses up to 1024.

The concept bus also delivers power to all the de-centralconcept products like light switches, thermostats andmovement detectors.

The controller itself can be powered by 230V AC or DC powerfrom a battery or power supply. The system will continueoperating after power failure by use of a back-up battery ifavailable.

It has communication ports for Ethernet and USB via whichconcept data can be monitored and controlled. Additionallya concept GSM-modem can be connected so that you cancontrol your system by sending SMS-messages to your house.

A computer/laptop is needed to run the easy 3-stepprogramming tool, which will guide you through the sequenceof house programming*:

    1. Enter all the rooms and the necessary concept modules.2. Assign all the names of input and outputs on the conceptmodules.3. Dene all the functions room by room for Light, Blinds,Heating, Air-conditioning and Ventilation,Windows and Alarms(like burglar alarms, smoke alarms and water alarms).

All control combinations of light switches, PIR

detectors, LUX sensors, real time functions, for light anddimmers are pre-programmed, so that the only thingrequired for you to do is to enter the names for theconcept modules that are controlling the outputs. Thesame procedure applies for the control of roller blinds, windows and alarms.

    * - Programming software is available free on-line.

For full details on programming see the Quick StartGuide document.

    Integration

M2 Concept Automation offers excellent integration optionsallowing its central control system to communicate and work intandem with pre-existing systems such as:

Fire Alarm SystemsAudio visual systems (via the Phillips Pronto)Burglar / Intruder Alarm systems

    Building Tannoy / announcement systems

Whats required?Often its as simple as a pair of volt free contacts which canbe used to provide the M2 Concept system with the necessarytrigger signal. In other cases compatibilty may require checkingto ensure communication / signal interpretation can be reliablyachieved.

Consider using concept input signals to trigger third partysystems such as controlling TV/music systems when door bell ortelephone rings.

    Touch Screens

The ability to have access to all functions within the M2Concept system is achieved with the use of windowsbased touch screens.

These can be programmed and tailored to eachindividual installation, providing control to lighting, heating, security and automation functions.
