    The new PROTEON LED high bay luminaire is an amalgamation of over a century of lighting experience and the latest in LED technology. Holophane has continually offered industry leading luminaires that are energy efficient and provide long-term benefits in both life and cost. Good lighting goes beyond supplying sufficient illumination levels. Quality lighting solutions provide usable illumination without shadows and glare to meet end users’ specific needs for comfort, security and the lowest cost of ownership.

    With the introduction of PROTEON, Holophane is able to deliver a High Bay LED luminaire that has long life LEDs delivering a predicted useful life of more than 100,000 hours at L70. (L92 is achieved at 60,000 hours).

    The luminaire shall consist of a extruded heat sink manufactured from 6063-T5 aluminium which allows for superior thermal management. The channel, endplates and driver tray are manufactured from steel treated and then painted to ensure corrosion resistance. The optical arrangement consists of precision formed optics utilising 97+% reflective Alanod® MIRO-SILVER® specular-aluminium coupled with a diffuse acrylic lens to provide glare control and protect the LEDs. Access to gear compartment is via the removable tray which utilises plugable harnesses to allow easy access to key electrical components.

    Thermal management is critically important to achieve the reliability expected from LED lighting. Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, are common in high bay environments and can have a detrimental impact on the performance of electrical components and thus life and reliability. Using the most advanced computer modelling available, our engineers incorporated metal only where it is most efficient. They also used electronics that actively respond to the environment providing optical light output without sacrificing life. This allows PROTEON to operate in a wide spectrum of temperatures ranging from -20°C to 40°C, ensuring years of trouble-free operation. Aluminium conducts heat three times greater than steel making it the ideal heat sink material. PROTEON uses an aluminium-extruded housing weighing 10kg with more than 6,350 square cm of surface area. This robust heat sink reduces the temperature of electrical components. In addition, slots in the side of the luminaire allow cooler air to enter as warmer air escapes through vents in the top of the luminaire.
